hmm.. yeah, the 720mph fighters in 1936 are a bit off... maximum speed for an Me 262 was under 600 mph.

...and I prefer all distance measurements be in fathoms. :D

It means it doesn't stop

I would bet that not having continuous selected means the mission will end on the date you specify (e.g. the HOI2 approach). This is a great way to save micro-management, which coupled together with the air reserves, means you can fly your units indefinitely. I almost always hated setting dates to end a mission!

I would love to see interception. Radar stations need to have an effective range, and if enemy planes are spotted within a radar stations range any interceptors on an Intercept mission will go out to intercept if the enemy is in their assigned range.

It would be nice to see aircraft speed play more of a role in interception. If the interceptors are slower than the attackers, then they should get a maximum of 2 passes (once on the way to the target, one as the attacker returns home). But then they might decide to abstract this....

I hope at some point we get some info on how secret/special weapons will work. :)

I hope they do something a bit special with rockets, as opposed to just making them aircraft. Hmm...

That's the plan, long running missions like air defence of the homeland you'll porbably want to set up and let them run, just checking from time to time that you have enough assets. Freeing up more of your time for the missions you want to manage more closely.

It's looking like Wings/Squadrons are going to be independent, as divisions are(?). If that is the case, what is the stacking limitations of air??

Air stack limitations in HOI2 was the only thing keeping people from sending up 20 Fighters into one uber decisive air battle. But the stack limitations also caused alot of problems with the ground/air/naval balancing of that game.

If there is no stack size limitations, I could not see a reason for the patrol/reserves system to be in effect. Why send up 20% of your air force to get chewed up piece meal by your opponent who sends up 100%. Fuel consumption is of no consequence I'm guessing.

This looks fantastic! The only other thing I would like to see (which I have discussed in other threads) is that the type & number of planes allowed on an airbase tied to the size of the airbase, ie. a CAS, FTR and INT can base on any sized airfiield, but larger planes eg. TAC, NAV, TRA need a medium size airfield or larger, and a STR needs a large sized airbase to operate from, otherwise they cannot base there/suffer enormous penalties to efficiency. This is especially important in the Pacific region, where islands and their airfields were of strategic value to project airpower in that region.

Maybe I missed it, but will we see a graphical representation of the cone or radius on the map as we set it? In the screenshot it looks like a the mission menu takes up a good chunk of the available space.

And hopefully the effectivness of AI and especially strategic bombing missions (airport attack, naval attack, infra....) will be much more effectiv, so an ongoing airdefence will be much more important.
As Germany, I often didn't care about allies strat attack, because this 10-20 IC reduction the allies cause me......

It also looks like, airunits will have an hierarchial structure to, or what else would that button on the left side (below No order) mean ?

The fact that it says 2 fighters & 0 bombers is a bit confusing, since the unit itself consists of 1 interceptor and 1 tactical bomber division.

The new features sound great BTW !
