Sorry, couldn't read all the posts, but I have some questions:

a) do the laws are avaible all from day one or do they have some triggers? I mean, it seems that on january the 1st 1936 I can enable all the laws at once, why I shouldn't?

b) Parties: I do understand that even in a dictatorship there may be some minor dissent groups (if these can be named as "parties" could be discussed), but is it realistic that in Germany in 1936 there's a roughly 10% of Leninists?
EDIT: For example, I can understand even a "market liberal" group with decent popularity (say, 20%), but with really low or no existent organization: these can represent those people accomodating with the regime even though they are not really fanatics. But a strong/organized communist party inside a fascist dictatorship is kind of too much (same goes for the other way: strong/organized fascist party in a communist country).

Anyway, a part from these issues (that I guess can or will be fixed during time) the game looks everytime better!

With this new party organisation system, I would love a new diplomatic option that enables you to support minority factions in other countries. For example, if you are Soviet Union, you may try to support the Communist party in other countries, trying to cause a shift in government and in attitude towards your country...

I wonder what sorts of events there will be that affect internal politics.

"A Communist instigator has started a riot in the capital!

A) Off with his head! [-5 Communist Party organization, +5 dissent]
B) Disperse the rioters [+1 Communist Party organization +1 dissent]
C) Perhaps he is right! [Our ideology is now STALINIST!]"

Can we please get a little more informative tooltips for the minister effects this time? In HoI2 it was sometimes difficult to understand what the effects really were, and there was no explanation in the manual either.

Excellent DD, together with the excellent last week's DD, I'm really really impressed with the design decisions made for HOI3 so far.
If I understand correctly, the laws are basically decisions, that is much more flexible than the old slider system, not to mention much more realistic.

I agree with those that said that minister effects should have more random stats to make each minister more unique. Also, ministers learn and get better just as officers and units, so maybe ministers would be able to improve their effects and learn new skills as well, depending on what your country are doing (especially if you are building lots of strategic bombers and are making many succesful bombing runs with them, your air minister might improve in effects for building strategic bombers or improve their effect)...

One does wonder though. When a new law becomes available, does it cost anything to enact it (dissent, leadership etc.)

I'd imagine that each law will be some kind of a tradeoff, e.g. investment in education will be +5% leadership growth and -5% money production (or something like that), banning political parties will maybe decrease organization of all opposition parties in exchange for perhaps a dissent hit or a reduction in National Unity.

I wanted to know:

you say that a minister can offer bonus and if you want to take advantage of you have to build tanks.

That means that if you don't create tanks the bonus will be worst?

I wanted to know:

you say that a minister can offer bonus and if you want to take advantage of you have to build tanks.

That means that if you don't create tanks the bonus will be worst?

The bonus affects a variable called "practical decay".

Tech research in any given area is affected by "theroetical" and "practical" values.

If any nation builds tanks, they get a bonus to their 'practical' value for tank research, and can research tank technology more quickly. If they build lots and lots of tanks, the 'practical' value goes up even further.

Once a point of 'practical' has been given, it slowly reduces (we don't know exactly how the decay works yet).

What this Minister does is reduce the rate at which the 'practical' value reduces, and hence gives you a better 'practical' value overall, and hence makes it easier for you to research tank technology and/or build tanks.

Presumably the Armoured Spearhead doctrine ministers only affect tank (or similar) research. If they do, then yes, you need to build tanks to get the bonuses from the ministers.

It's odd to have budget decisions as laws without having some kind of a counterweight to excessive spending (like, you know, requiring you to have money before you spend it). Why would anyone pick Average Education Investment over Big Education Investment?
Maybe education decisions require an investment of Leadership now (to raise the teachers) in order to increase the rate of leadership gain in the future?

Maybe there is a change to the rate of money per Consumer Goods production from education laws?

We don't know, yet, but I'm prepared to trust Paradox to balance all this out - they have done so pretty well in the past.

It's like the Dance of 1000 veils, you don't want everything revealed all at once before the performance ends, you need to keep some degree of mystery around to keep the audience's attention. ;)

But I don't care about the wrapping......I just want the prize!!!!!!

I’m intrigued with the potential possibilities I’m thinking this will give us.

nation unity is something that is adversely affected by losing national territory . Though we don't know its affects we know that Hitler will lessen/negate its loss to a degree, presumably to allow The soviets and allies to take most of Germany before the Germans surrender.

Liberate country seems to me to be a quick way of doing Create puppet ----> Liberate Puppet.

Seems like other factors could determine national unity. Like pearl harbor attacks should give the USA high national unity. But if the US declares war with no direct provocation, national unity drops and maybe you'll have a much harder time building up for war. Public opinion needs to be key in democracies especially. Maybe without Churchill the UK falls into shambles as people demand peace.

Not sure there is enough difference in colour range for the 'popularity' pie chart (but that might just be me -im a little unsure which colour relates to which ideology).

But WOW!!! that is looking fantastic. Very nice. I really like the distribution of political ideologies in your country. Great idea.

My guess would be that the laws has both positive and negative implications. Perhaps a law gives more manpower but it also gives some kind of negative factor like less industrial efficiency.

Another guess is that one law could move you in a political direction. Silencing the free press would move you in the authoritorian direction while'st another law could move you some other direction.

Just guesses..

With this new party organisation system, I would love a new diplomatic option that enables you to support minority factions in other countries. For example, if you are Soviet Union, you may try to support the Communist party in other countries, trying to cause a shift in government and in attitude towards your country...
That would be a great idea.

Another idea that would be great is if you could support seperatists in different countries. For example, like in Belgium that you could support the Fascist/National Socialist Flemish seperatists when playing with Germany.

Or the Lithuanians in the Soviet Union, or the Croatians in Yugoslavia. Would be a nice touch to the game.
