sooo, how about dictatorships joining the allies? Batista's regime for example, or nowadays Kuweit

or democracies joining the comintern? Romania was more or less democratic after 23th of august untill 1947 and was a part of the comintern...

and also please stop putting american buildings as a simbol of democracy, you could better fit somthing from switzerland, or swedan better, much better

The Influence button does that for you, I assume. As well as probably some intelligence operations we are not aware of yet. Note that there is a lot of variation in countries' positions (South Africa is closer to the Axis than New Zealand), so there must be a lot of things going on (even assuming some of these are just there because of scenario setup).

It's not a symbol of democracy, its a symbol of the 'Allied Powers' and as such, the best choices would be something that is associated with the primary allied countries during the MAJORITY of the war (USA and Britain - sorry Canada, France and the ANZACs) and the Statue of Liberty is also pleasantly connected with freedom (or at least during WWII it certainly was) which was the whole Allied ideoligical take on the war. The Axis was fighting for world domination, the Comitern was fighting for its life, and the Allies were fighting for the right to be 'free' of domination... or at least that's the sunday school version.

well, yes but this will cause a total unhystorical situation, because let's say US influences Batista, their government will become more democratic and be able to join but also batista will be replaced as he is a little fascist, (and US is too, but the difference is that they have the simbol of democracy)

about romania, after 23th of august 44 it was an agonising transition towards communism, but untill 47 king Michael was the head of state wich is at least bizzare. not to mention serries of Prime ministers that were either right winged or democratic. so how do you respect history and game engines?

aslso finland was democratic along the war

this is a very very good update
MP game will have a different feeling. The more house rule we can remove, the better it is, I guess.
This completely give a new dimension to diplomacy. Very good stuff.

Would be interesting to know the time needed to move one country to one's alignment ? I guess this is dependent on multiple factor, but should we count in months or years ?

Just because you are in the Allied side of the triangle, doesn't mean you're democratic?

As King said, ideology influences your drift towards an alignment. As Johan said, your alignment influences which parties are popular (it does not determine your ideology). If you are a military dictatorship, like Cuba, you don't have any parties who could seize power from you, so you can be as Axis, or Allies or even Comintern as you want.

I think you're confusing this game with HoI1, a little bit. Didn't it directly tie alignment to state ideology?

Is there any chance that larger and more powerful countries could get their little circles on the top layer of that triangle? Seems bad to have places like Guanxi Clique and that hum red arab flag with a sabre be on top and in the way of more powerful nations.

Or Perhaps your neighbors could be placed on the top layer.

Yemen you mean?

I think much of the problem would be addressed if the left-hand filters (North America, South America, etc.) applied not just to the list, but also to the triangle.

in the monday school

Ger fights for revenge
Ita fights for Mare Nostrum
Fra fights for not letting Ger have her revenge
UK fights for Fra
USSR fights for defence and then world conquest
USA fights for money
JAP fights for "Oceanus nostrum"

In any case, I do not see how dictatorships will join the allies and democracies the commintern or axis

You might want to read King's and Johan's posts more carefully, the process is described pretty well (particularly the case of Finland).

as i understand it, no, ideology doesn't prevents anything, it just makes it harder. a democratic country inherently leans towards the allies, but if you influence it enough you can lure it to any camp, it might be very very hard, but there are no impossibility coded in.

Bingo, your ideology is only one factor that influences your drift.

That diplomacy triangle is damn epic. Very nice job.

(What's that country with the blank yellow flag near communism though?)

It's very similar to th HoI political spiral, and looks very familiar.
