Only for the sake of fight against ignorance, but the first tank who entered in Paris in order to liberate it from fascist control was driven by spaniards, veterans from that "petty event" of 1936.

Also, as spaniard myself, I agree with the OP.

You know what I forgot all about that! I also forgot that it was the Spain's and Portugal's troops that stormed the beaches during D-Day, fought their way up Italy, sank numerous Japanese ships and freed all mankind from the tyranny of WWII. I don't know how I had forgotten about that.

Portugal sold goods to both the Allies and the Axis. They stayed out of the war that was right in their own backyard and decided to just try to profit from it.
Spain's role in WWII was just as important. They did nothing but give the Germans some equipment back.

Neither country did anything positive during the war. They get what they worked so hard for...... Spanish Region.

Typical american.

You forgot the part when we unleashed two Nuclear Bombs over thousand of civilians (for the freedom of mankind).

Holy shit pal, the ghosts in the Kremlin must be laughing inside their damn coffins. Anyway, the World Wars are called that way for something, mostly because it involded the entire god damn world. I know your kind use to consider its own country as 2/4 of the Earth, but keep in mind it doesn't work that way for the rest. Anyway, keep trolling baby.

Why does the contribution in ww2 have any correlation with basic geographical terms??????

And even if what you said is true (which isn't)
Why favor Spain more than Portugal?
Your incorrect assumption leads to another incorrect assumption.

Now I suggest we all return to the subject of this thread as to not force moderators to lock it down :).

Remarkable how a thread about such a simple and minor thing, can so quickly turn toxic. Seriously, this isn't the place for this 'discussion'.

Like Capt. Fabri stated PanosB3. It was called a WORLD WAR for a reason.
War = as in this game HOI4. Fighting for a cause or against one? The Spanish government helped Germany. The Portuguese government did nothing but try to profit from both sides and I'm not so sure if they were in reach of Russia they would have tried to profit from them as well.

The point is we are playing a game about WAR!
We don't play a game about freeing this group of people or just 35 people from that group. No, we are talking about battles and lives lost. To which Portugal and Spain did nothing but sit on the sidelines hoping and praying the German war machine was not coming for them too.
I think the devs got the name correct. If it is to be changed by them or a mod, so be it. But to boast that Spain or worse Portugal did anything positive in WAR is absurd. Both countries had more attrition due to wisdom teeth removal than they did in actual combat. The WAR was right in their own backyards and they still did nothing.

The WAR was right in their own backyards and they still did nothing.

I find that comment extremely disrespectful to the thousands of souls that were saved due to actions by individual people belonging to those nations (and some of which worked under instructions, not all).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portugal_during_World_War_II#Jews_and_other_refugees
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain_during_World_War_II#Jews_and_other_refugees

So according to your logic:
The point is we are playing a game about WAR!

Why does this fact abolish the science of Geography and everything established by it? (Including calling the region ''Iberian'') ?
And don't use the excuse its for gameplay reasons... because it works towards the opposite to be honest.
But once again I say we stop talking about the actions of Spain/Portugal during ww2 and tell me why Spanish region > Iberian Region. Please lets not get this thread locked.

AGAIN PanosB3
We are playing a GAME. A GAME about war. Not about saving souls. This is a simulation not real life. So in a GAME setting your point is totally and completely moot.

I think the Devs got the name of the region correct. That region did nothing of any impact or significance when it comes to this game about WAR. In the context of the GAME the name is correct IMHO.

The WAR was right in their own backyards and they still did nothing.

In fact that's incorrect. Pretty much the entire bulk of combatants of the Spanish Civil war who weren't dying inside prisons or working as slaves for the Franco's regime were actually fighting in every front of the war, in both sides. Same as the poles and many other nationalities who deserve respect, and knowdlege.

You know you can just acknowledge that neither country did anything and still want the name to be changed. I could care less.
But please don't equate a tank driven by a Spaniard as participating in a WAR. THAT is the definition of disrespectful.

"Sir" allow me to remind you started your trolling for the sake of humankind with.

Neither Spain nor Portugal were involved in WWII (other than some event in 1936?)

Which is both, a lie and disrepectful. First off, because if you come here to say Spain or Portugal didn't took part of the war it's simply not true. Second it has little to do with the topic, which is about five seconds of effort to change a minor thing from Paradox, non the less an error is an error. Third, considering certain countries took part of the war just in a minor scale than other countries doesn't change the fact they actually took part. Because if we speak about scales, the army that "storm" Normandy is kinda little compared to the battle of titans that took place in the eastern front.

The thread is about region names, not the contribution of Portugal and Spain to the war. And the thread is certainly not about generalizing the behavior of one person to the entire group of people in the United States.

This thread is closed, and further action may be taken.
