HoI3 won every feature battle versus HoI2, but lost the war in terms of gameplay. Victoria 2, fortunately, doesn't have as stiff competition from Victoria 1

Victoria is the best game Paradox has made.

Yea, I know you are the same people, I was being sarcastic. Its just - having global war game without having refined economy reduces the game to tactical-mass-shooter. Anyways, for Vic2, if you haven't done so already, please, get some historian as a consultant or at least a beta tester. Its very good that you've gone deep and are trying to thought out things as much as possible, the more the better, but academic historian will probably always have deeper and better understanding of the historical question then an untrained person.
Victoria 1's feature list is basically distilled Hobsbawm

How about revolutions? I can not recall one instance in which a government that has overthrown the previous one got stuck with their debts.
It would look really silly if communist Russia had to pay France the royal families debts.![]()
CAN you make the choice not to pay? Like a decision available in the months following a revolution along the lines of 'Refuse to Pay Former Governments Debts'
which would launch events to the nations the money is owed to giving them the option to declare war, or let it slide
Ah, ok then. My bad.Austria and Hungary took over the debts of Austro-Hungary after 1918.
The Weimar Republic took over the debts of Imperial Germany.
The Portuguese Republic took over the debts of the Kingdom of Portugal (IIRC).
In fact, one of the reasons the Allies invaded Russia during the Russian Civil War was that the Bolshevik government refused to pay foreign creditors.

Can Paradox move the decimal point a few numbers to the right? Why have 37.875 tax income when you can have 37,875? It would feel like I'm running a real economy if larger numbers were involved. Having income of $18 makes it feel like I'm running a flea market.
How confusing!Besides wouldn't it depend on the players use of decimal points? ... where I live we use comma as decimal points, so 37.875 is a lot more than 37,875![]()
Decisions NEED to launch events for other countries, or else they wont know. OR else it wont work.
Events are a good thing, and they allow things that the mechanics will never be able to do. When the game is well enough engineered not to need events, Then the whole bloody human race will be eslaved to it and its electronic tyrrany.
And 18000£ is better for a nation?? .. it is just a representation of money. I don't see the big issue

We had an interesting dicussion about this in the office during Victoria 2 deisgn. The thing about Marixism is it takes a very mechanistic approach to things like politics and economics. From a real world perspective Marixism, is considered by some to have flaws. From a game design perspective it is manna from heaven. Mechanistic approachs are easy to convert into game mechanics.
