So I doubt I'm the first to notice that war exhaustion seems really off, with the only two main things that matter being fleet and army loses, while both sides suffer the same slowly increasing attrition level, but it seems with the new mechanic of devastation war exhaustion seems even more off. I've had some wars so far where I completely annihilate the enemy fleet and bombard all their planets yet I'm still the one with technically higher war exhaustion since I've lost more ships over the course of the war from taking all their space stations. Plus on a realism level it seems very strange that having a planet completely devastated by war adds nothing to war exhaustion at all, an empires citizens should be crying out for peace when their homes have been destroyed by planetary bombardment.

War Exhaustion needed an overhaul as soon as they implemented it :)

At least we no longer auto-peace instantly that was the worst. But it still regularly happens to me that even in the wars that I am clearly winning I somehow have more war exhaustion than the enemy. That said maybe Grand Admiral modifies it but I dont think so.

the autopeace was god awful. No, telling me about a stupid rule before it takes effect does not make the rule less stupid. So glad they fixed that.

Regarding devastation, i'm in the 'eehh maybe' category. I could see it working, but there's the odd question- seems like a colony being devastated or captured would be less bad than a huge urban planet.
