No mods load, but 2.5 does start and is playable.

if it is just a singular mod at a time, I think there is a way to put it into launch parameters, I'll ask tomorrow

I use quite a few mods, so I will probably need to wait for a launcher fix for those.
I started a game in vanilla 2.5, but plan to start another in 2.51 with a lithoid species while waiting.
