@Ur-Quan Lord 13

Space mining is definitely pretty bad in my opinion as well considering that 2 energy gives you "3" energy since the upkeep is included in the station and most of the mining opportunities in the galaxy are 2 minerals for 1 energy which is the same return on investment as the trader enclaves. However, they did add in empire bonuses on space mining stations. So if you are an empire that stacks a lot of empire wide mineral bonuses, you could be getting a lot especially with omnifarious acquisition et al.

I'm also not convinced that gaia worlds for the partner cyborgs are worth it. I mean how many energy credits and game time would you have to wait to get a return on the investment from all that gaia terraforming?

I didn't mention space mining... Did the "as well" mean you were adding to what I said, rather than responding?

Anyway, you've got it backwards. 2 minerals for 1 energy is 4x the return of trader enclaves, which is 1 of whatever in exchange for giving away 2. And, it's always worth it.

There are discussions going on around this forum, on what's the best way to turn all the huge amounts of extra energy you have into minerals. And by "best" they mean "most tile efficient" because tiles are a limited resource. And, early game, pops are a limited resource. While 2:1 isn't a great ratio, and isn't improved relative to any other part of your empire when you pick up empire modifers, which affect everything... It is 1 energy being converted into 2 minerals without requiring a pop or tile.

As for Gaia terraforming for your cyborgs, you have to remember you're weighing it against machine world terraforming for your machine pops. You're definitely making machine worlds, if you care about outputs at all (and if you don't, why are you even thinking about any of this?) so the only question is whether it's worth a whole ascension perk to turn high-mineral worlds into Gaia worlds. I'd say... If you don't want any of the others. But not actually competitive with any of the others.

Is it really? This would explain why I am getting stomped 2265 when I used to be ahead of the AI on hard mode this far into the game

My impression with my own scaling game was that something is wrong. I started and when I met another empire they had far more naval cap than I did (I was -8 on relative power modifier to get a NAP). I figured it was an advanced start empire. But then every empire I met was the same. In particular the tech speed of default empires was crazy - I was really struggling to keep the 'bleeding edge' happiness up with my materialist faction and I was playing F-mat.

That was just my impression, but it seems others have had similar experience and checked what bonuses the AI are getting and found they start with what they are meant to get by the endgame year and it gradually scales downwards and then pops back up to the full amount in 2400.

The challenge is pretty good and I'd suggest playing Admiral if you want to be really challenged. That feeling of struggling to keep up makes for an interesting and different game.

Since we've made Humiliate clear claims, can we make it so a successful vassalization war do the same thing too? I recently beat a neighboring Empire into becoming my vassal, but they'll never go Loyal with a -400 claim opinion penalty.

yep it has to be a bug which start with 100% bonus, than reduces to zero at end-game-year.

BTW it jump back to 100% after end-game-year.

Bugs and issues I ran into with 2.0.2 on huge map with max AI empires and fallen with major events not firing till year 3000

Still need fixes

1 unbalance federations fight 1k vs 2k is hard enough yet along 1k vs 2.5k free maintenance is BS instead of shared naval power how about also sharing maintenance cost, or do something to make it so governments that do not follow federations or form into them have a chance against federations, maybe give dominance branch 500 free ships ability where if you had dominance and federations you only get one or other, also need to do something for supremacy then to. it is stupid that one government style gets 500 free ships and other government styles do not. makes federations OP which they always where.

2 AI movement cheating via magic teleportation on on top of unfriendly units 50+ systems away with no Penalty ,

3 AI who never surrender even when they have no systems just due to being in a federation or having allys, it creating wars drag on for 100+ years or longer due to no one being able to reach any one. I had one war in my game where AI refused to to give up both sides because nether one could research each other they both ended up betting wiped out by other AI after 150 years of war that went no where.

I also got stuck in a war due to my federation member declaring war on AI next to us we took every single system there ally was on other side of huge galaxy and no one could get to them or to us due to no access. so that war dragged on for 250 years past point where we took all of the systems we wanted.

AI never likes to surrender I use white peace all of time to claim systems.

4 Claiming systems is kind of silly research even disables its ability half way through the game so it even becomes pointless more soon due to in ability to even use it due to research, so it should only be used when you need to deal with allys to manage who gets what systems at end of the war. I unlocked some research that totally made it impossible to claim systems for war or during war, so now my allys get every thing and I get nothing during our wars.

5 AI can cheat or Travel past systems even if there are inhibitors in there way which suppose to block this from happen.

6 Jump Drives should be more dangerous ability to jump in combat right away and jump out is cheatie. this should be same drive that is used to try to emergency jump out of combat.
how about tieing the jump drive to emergency jump ability, and then allowing people to unlock warp drives again in the game. give warp drives a longer wind up and down effect or make it so when you come out of warp you are defenseless so cant be used sneak attack into back water systems. maybe used more as way to bounce around your own claimed sectors.

for example you could move into enemy sector normal and then after combat if its clear you could warp out to friendly area, or if during combat you could use jump drive with chances of ship lose.

but I am tired of computer some how knowing right where my ships are moving to and end up being with them magic tell porting right on top of them even if they are on move in my area 50+ systems away. not even sure if this is due to jump drive. it just cheating for most part as far as i can tell.

because i can not use the jump drive in same manner by time my charges up there fleet usually gone from that location where AI can pin point on top of moving systems right when my fleet enters a new system they do jump with in less then second. it is honestly annoying.

7. dooms day fleets turned into doomsday fleet stacks

I do not understand how no one seen this coming over at paradox you turned doomsday fleet into a stack of fleets - which now AI uses and I have to chase around stupid map never able to keep up with due to them jumping around like Clownhats. -> annoying, how about froce AI and players to breack these stacks of fleet up I would add rear admirals to the game. each rear admiral can can command x number of fleets if there more fleets in a stack or group going into system then what can be command by any one rear admiral then there plenty for combat where all the fleet powers that are stacked are decreased.

think of rear admirals like 3 or 4 star generals in hearts of iron u have one for each front you want to command so if you want to attack system with 3 fleet u have to have a rear admiral with experience to be able to handle giving commands to three admirals - i would also suggest adding flagships to game that admirals and rear admirals work off of if chain of command gets broken then your fleet goes into chaos. - this could give smaller empires chance to stand up to larger empires or bigger federations. cuz instead of just having to fight the bulk of there forces you could target there command to give your self big boost to combat against them to help stand up against being steam rolled.

8 I would add spys and assassins to take out chain of command or and to steal technology and or also to turn off defense on space stations just before an attack.

9 one more ship class instead of having fleets just bombard planets technology and ship classes that are made for doing this from nuckler bomb attacks to fight attacks from carrier wings that target infantry to biological warfare attacks.

10 also playing on huge map love ability to have technology that allow me to super nova suns turning systems into black holes or nova stars.

11 ability to create artificial worm holes between systems i own for fast travel like the gateways.
when empires get up to 150 systems or more it gets big laggish to get around in huge galaxy also the fleet thing and doomsday stack stuff becomes more of issue as i talked about in 7 because you really do bunny hope follow these things around like bugs rabbit and combined that with the AI jumping with jump drives its really annoying.

I like system over all I just think that these improvements help feel of game, but as of now these things make game come off unbalance and as if it system is just cheaty some things are government styles are just vastly have huge advantage over others.

you guys need to incorporate in game feed back system like other developers do along with ability to attach screenshots or copy of the save game file with in game while playing - along with generic in game survey system can databases by user ID and then updated by User as game progresses.

Keep up the good work, Devs. Good stuff.

Yeah scaling is looking in my game like it starts on the old insane. I think I might actually enjoy losing to the AI as compared to "ho hum, you're all pathetic and I'm waiting and hoping for an exciting endgame." Kinda novel seeing that red OVERWHELMING from a non Fallen Empire too.

LoL---what's going on...that is 2x in two days that the subject of THACO has come up in a space game I am playing! And I bet that 3/4 don't even get it!!!

My first win on Stellaris was my Illithid Empire. I was loving it, then I got Horizon Signal (first time, had no idea what the retrovirus did) and it changed all my pops from glorious mind flayers to some untentacled molluscoid monstrosity! I wasn't able to enjoy that playthrough after that. Next Illithid playthrough imma make a servile race called Githyanki for them to lord over. I bet 17/18ths of you have no clue wth i'm on about, the rest of you are my people. Sup!

Another Out of Sync in multiplayer. We just totally wasted over 4 hours of our time...I advise no one to play multiplayer until this is fixed MP is totally broken due to out of sync issues. See below snapshot and i have put in a bug report with he game save file and oos files. Devs please look at those files and see if you can find anything that will help you fix this. Thanks for the continued support to get this working.

Is anyone else getting clustered starts despite clustered starts being turned off? My last few attempts to play (once I skipped scaling) all have me hemmed in by nearby empires. When I opened the console I saw the same things - clusteres of empires with huge empty areas between. Anyone else seen this?

So when you subjectate some one by force, they still get the penalty to liking you? (at war: -50)
Yeah, and that's supposed to be a thing. Vassalization through a war should still make them hate you, until the hatred burns off. Though the opinion should read "was at war" not "is at war".

I'm using the beta patch, and I'm loving the changes. I have a bug report, however!

Bug: I destroyed the enigmatic fortress and got the choice to check it out or ignore it. Obviously I chose to check it out. I got an event in my log that says we are trying to find a way to prevent it from powering up, but years have gone by and nothing else has happened. There are no choices to make or anything else happening to further the event chain.

Was the save made before the patch on the 14th?

Anyone else notice or have a problem with the latest patch and the AI just sort of... stopping expansion?

I'm playing on Grand Admiral, 1000 stars, max empires, no mods at all. Some of the AI still seem to be expanding normally, and some pushed really aggressively toward me, and then just sort of... stopped. There are a few empires with only a single system between them, and neither of them are claiming it. I figured some of them might be boxed in by monsters or pirates, but some of them just seem to have... given up. Here's an example of what I'm seeing:

https://imgur.com/a/gVuN1

They are more than keeping up in terms of fleet and tech. 2 of them are overwhelming over me and all others are superior. I tried trading to get some energy/food/minerals from some to see if they have -1000 (indicating they didn't have any of that resource) and it doesn't seem to be that either. So I'm not sure why they have slowed down so much. Running out of influence, perhaps, but I'm sitting on 300+ and have expanded more than they have.
