i don't think the DLC will be released that early ^^;

They always release their big DLCs around February. Now, if they don't release it in March, which is already later than February, that would be a big disappointment given that they had released their last DLC BftB as a side thing, saying that it wouldn't affect their main DLC process. According to them, their main team was on duty and busy with the next big DLC. So they shouldn't release the next DLC any later than March IMO. If BtfB was gonna delay their next big DLC, I would've preferred BtfB wasn't even released at all then.

I would rather have them release it in August than be rushed and released full of bugs that won't ever be fixed ever after tbh.

Looks like Hoi4 didn't get the attention it should have had since its development:
1) a peace system, which is hated even by its own developers.
2) non-existent diplomacy (yes, in hoi2 / 3 you could have done something more)
3) economy too abstract (better that of the old hoi that you had MONEY and WAREHOUSES for ALL the resources)
4) on Hoi3 the refueling system was advanced, the problem was that it was done with the feet ... (and therefore better to use the arcade one like that of hoi4)
That is, Hoi4 is the son of all the errors of Hoi2 and Hoi3 that to try to avoid them ... have made much worse!

Well this will probably the biggest DLC so far, if they want to do Soviets right they have to rework weather, defensive warfare and logistics. Plus the Soviet focus tree will have to have some high level of historical, alt-history and meme-history content. Maybe it comes with a rework of the Italian tree, rework of the polish tree and a German communist path so that would also create work.

I hope both Italy and the soviets get the focuses they deserve, the biggest ones in the game yet, considering how important USSR was and how flexible Italy's foreign policy at the time was.

Or rather, they realised as soon as they start working on 1.11 that 1 year of dev time is not enough, so they put a tiny amount of effort out to create a stop-gap content pack?

At least that's how I want to believe.

HoI 4's development always struck me as it being the neglected child. I still think it's an okay game and got my money's worth if entertainment out of it. Memes are not exactly what I want out of a WWII game, but it's selling well so yeah there's that.

Don't you think it's a bit late given the DLC will probably be released in March 2021?

What makes you think it's coming out in march? It took six months from the start of La Resistance dev diaries to actually release the DLC. This is likely going to be the biggest DLC they've done and the fact that they haven't even started dev diaries should tell you that it's a long way off. If they start the diaries in mid January then you are probably looking at a July/August release date.

Your reasoning is quite surprising, to say the least.

The reason USSR and Italy may come together is the historical Soviet aspiration to attain Littorio Class battleships, which they failed to negotiate and hence to lay claim on a modern capital ship had to resort to the most primitive means known to mankind, and a bigger coalition club that was. Unfortunately for the Soviets, their club still was not swift enough to deliver them Littorios before those were sunk or handed to a bigger boss, so the only modern capital they eventually got off the Italians was Giulio Cesare - merely 40 years old by then, so that was a huge naval breakthrough for the Soviets anyway.

So I'm reasonably sure this DLC will be mostly about Naval affairs, trade and research, i.e. the areas clearly underdeveloped compared to say land warfare.

edit: and peace negotiations, apparently!

If the next (probably the biggest) DLC releases before June I'm going to highly doubtful of its success.

The next overhaul is going to make or break the HOI4 for good.

Maybe the DLC with the codename Barbarossa will launch 80 years after the operation Barbarossa (22.6.1941)
It is not a strange idea. They have posted around 25-30 dev diaries for every big expansion. So that is 25-30 weeks further down the line.
If they start with the dev diaries in the first week of next year, then the last one will be somewhere in june-july.
