This is the exact opposite of how multiplayer campaigns should be approached. It makes the campaign far too predictable, and can easily lead to a situation where a singular "good" player completely dominates the development of the entire run, as in fact it had been the case several times, with ie. StarNaN or Kaiser Johan. Please make the good players play major nations and make the somewhat less experiences Developers play minor nations.
I used to think this as well but seeing a completely new player on France who doesn't understand basic game mechanics bothers me more than a Milan player dying. This is the exact opposite of how multiplayer campaigns should be approached. All EU4 dev clashes were streamed by Jake. (at least after he join PDX) As far as i know he would be still streaming them.Haven't managed to watch a single dev clash since Jake doesn't cast them anymore. Jake isn't into MP and I don't think he knows the meta by heart, but my god, he's a billion times better than everyone you've had cast since.
I couldn't even watch the last Grandest LAN on the fact of the casters being so horrifically bad at their own game. They had no idea about MP or even SP for that matter, they didn't know how to navigate the observer mode, they aren't charismatic or funny... I could go on but I think I've painted the picture.
When it comes to Victory Cards and whatever I don't mind those. Nor do I mind the absence of sweaty MP meta, it's a breath of fresh air coming from watching and playing in MP lobbies. But please, bring Jake back.
Haha I really enjoy them using the score system. It's like a meta-joke. They know, and we know, and they know we know, and we know they know, etc, that name size on map is the only thing that will ever matter. But they're the developers! They designed this score system, and it is a score system. For scoring the game. Its the one time anyone will ever look at the score and it amuses me, anyway.I would like to add that the Dev Clash could use some EU4 Multiplayer rules that are mainstream in the community. For example rules against hugboxes and historial rivals allying each other. I don't think any viewer enjoys the Developers using the Victory Cards and Score system to measure success and who wins a game. And for the love of God: Please make the good players play major nations and make the somewhat less experiences Developers play minor nations. Also hire DDRJake again for commentary![]()
Last Dev Clash had the same issues as now. Was still made.I'd absolutely love for there to be a Dev Clash (not least because I might have a chance of actually being in it!), but there are currently no plans to do so before Leviathan's release.
Main reason is Dev Clashes use in-dev builds which are notoriously unreliable. When everyone is in-house, this can be mitigated to some extent through excellent hardware and internet connection, but now with everyone being remote the logistics are just not feasible.
