Sorry for double posting

I am nearly pure German ( Have a bit of Scottish tossed in ) and my family emigrated after World War One. I really think its sad that Germany was the worlds greatest power during the Imperial age, and because of Hitler ( The Moron ) we are basically looked down on even if we are not German born. I want the anthem to be restored because Germany runs from nationalism because now it seems that many Germans feel that nationalism instantly translates to nazism, and it does not.

So you actually are an American, feeling German?
To a lot of people that 'feeling' implies a certain sensitivity regarding the own history...that's where you grow up to be happy with the 3rd stanza, even if the first is just a common misinterpretation containing nothing else but patriotism (still the mentioned borders rule this stanza out) and the 2nd is just plain funny.

I wouldnt mind the music, but I would mind the text of the first couplet. It is not for nothing it isnt the anthem anymore.
And no it doesnt have much to do with PC, but judging from your answer I wont be able to convince you of that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the third stanza simply refer to what the ethnic boarders of Germany were seen to be in that day(hence the mentioning of Memel and so forth?) Also Deutchland Uber Alles simply means that Germany should rule over all of the lands which are German. I don't think it means that "Germany should rule over the entire globe, bow to us now you weakling pig-dogs"....although Nazism and the Second World War does make it understandable how people could come to this incorrect conclusion
