So, the development of Deus Vult is in full speed towards a release hopefully within a month. The main focus of developing this expansion has been on making the world feel more alive and the interface work better.
One of the major changes done is the total removal of breeding, where instead children’s stats grow each birthday, depending on luck, traits and how you handle them. This have a big impact on gameplay, and makes it very interesting to see your children grow in skills as they age.
Another interesting aspect is the new concept of “fosterlings”. You can now send kids between 5 and 15 to other courts where they will be raised, and form ties with the children of that court, and then returns home when they come of age at 16. This ties together with the new concept that each character will have a few friends and rivals. Friends can be very helpful, and rulers that are your friends are much more likely to be positive to diplomatic actions, while rivals may cause immense harm to your ruler.
Here we see a screenshot of a young fosterling in my court in the Duchy of Moray, where he has forged a friendship with my current young ruler. This will become important later on, as he is the younger brother of the Count of Shetland, one of my not-so-entirely-loyal vassals.
