Welcome to Part 5 of my Austrian Megacampaign If you were looking for Part 1 you can find it Here! If you were looking for part 2 you can find it Here! and Part 3 is right Here! Part 4 is right Here!.

The Story so Far:

Previously in history the Anniona dynasty rose from obscurity out of the borderlands between Bavaria and Bohemia. quickly rising to power in the region ushering in an age of Religious and Imperial Conquest that would lead to a restored Western Roman Empire, the Christianization of Europe, Spain and North Africa. Though the Austrian emperors soon grew complacent after defeating the Sunset Invasion and the Dynasty fell into decay, decadence and collapse. House Anniona and its Cadet Branches still rule Europe but years of incest, corruption and possible demonic possession afflicting Austrian Emperors shattered the once great Empire leading to the Infamous Edict of Vienna of 1412.
Over the next Four Hundred years house Anniona has clawed its way back up to the top. Using the very rules dictated by the Edict of Vienna to unite the Holy Roman Empire once again. Though there were sacrifices. The Protestant reformation was crushed in its infancy, and the Various cultures and peoples of Europe have been subverted conquered or otherwise oppressed by the Holy League, A Joint alliance between The Celtic Empire, Holy Roman Empire and Russian Empire.

Austria also carved out the largest Colonial Empire in the history of the world Controlling at it's height over half of the Americas, Japan, South Africa and the Congo, and Uniting the Bloodlines of the Aztec and Japanese Emperors into the Annionan Bloodline, meaning that all Austria Emperors are now theoretically descended from not one but two different sungods as well as the original Founders of the house. The Anniona Cadet Branch of Anniona-Bretagne currently rules in the Celtic and Eastern Roman Empires, as well as Spain and Cordoba.
The Napoleonic War and the Italian interregnum during the early 1800's would shake the foundations of Europe leading to the brief independence of the Kingdom of Italy and the Coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte. In the Chaos of the revolution the Colonies of Peru Venezuela and Argentina broke away from Austria proper while the Powers of North America formed a great 'Continental Congress' to ensure that Colonial oppression would never return to the New World.

Napoleon's Italian state was later crushed by the combined efforts of a modernized Austrian-Celtic Military and The intervention of Russia under a new Liberal Constitutional Monarchy. With the defeat of Napoleon Europe was once again 'Set Right' along Holy Roman, Russian and Celtic Terms and it would stay at peace until friction within the Holy League brought on by the Napoleonic Wars and changing Ideologies led to schism and eventual breaking of the longest standing alliance in the history of the world.

Meanwhile the Great Empires of India and China were gathering steam, building a combined industry greater than Europe's and with a massive population to fuel it, the Holy Roman and Russian Empires were forced to liberalize their economies lest they be left behind. The Holy and Eastern Roman Empires would colonize Africa in this time hungry for new Glory and resources trapped within the Dark continent. Korea would also be seized by the HRE in this time while the Wu and Indian states ran out more minor colonial empire's such as Cordoba from China. However between the Ethnic tinderbox that was Scandinavia, the Crimea and Colonial Crisis in Africa and Asia, the Russians and Austrians too would drift apart.

Eventually differences would lead to war, and on several different occasions coalitions led by Russia, the Celtic Empire or the Byzantine Empire would form to try and topple Austrian Dominance of Europe only to be send back until the Celtic Empire finally collapsed, losing both Scotland and Ireland to a revived Scottish state.

With the Balance of Power in tatters, India unified under Empress Ashanti the First, and Feeling itself slowly being Minimized the Wu Empire of China committed to helping the Byzantine Empire and North German Empire of Westphalia against the Russo-Imperial-Indian Alliance. Starting a War that would be felt the world over, one that would devastate the Indian and Greek Countrysides, lead to the Fragmentation of the Chinese Empire, Partition of Greek Africa, The Global Communist Revolution and following Depression of 1900.

In the Following years Fascists have took over the remains of the Chinese, Greek and Celtic Empires and have swallowed up neighboring states and begun to build themselves up to finally have their revenge against the Holy Roman Empire.
In 1940 The Second world War began in earnest as the Soviet Union and Fascist Chinese Union State both attacked countries allied to the Holy Roman Empire. In an effort to keep itself from being surrounded Empress Osterheld 'Octavia' Anniona declared war on the Fascist State of Greater Albion and it's Iberian allies and invaded France and Spain in 1941.

The American States of the United States of America, Templar Republic and California Meanwhile had formed into the 'Continental Union' an economic and military alliance that was intended to benefit all member states. The American's seeing a major threat in the Fascist rising in Europe and Asia sided with the Holy Roman Empire almost immediately.

Holy Roman and American Troops together would liberate North Africa and recovered the State of Israel which was lost early in the war. Greece was also taken followed by France and Later Iberia after a series of bloody seiges along the bay of Biscay.

Scandinavia, which was the target of the Soviet Union fought off the Soviets almost singlehandedly, advancing into Finland and later linking with Holy Roman Forces that pushed into Soviet territory at the city of Leningrad.

Meanwhile the Indian Empire had been crushed by a combined Greek and Chinese invasion force and surrendered not long after the resolution of the Western front in France and Spain. Fighting would continue in western europe until the end of the war not on the ground but in the skies as the Rival Fascist and Imperial Air forces dueled it out for control of British Airspace.

By 1943 the Soviets had realized they bit off far more than they could chew and surrendered following the fall of Moscow, Leningrad and Ninzy Novogrod. The Russian Von Hannover Dynasty was restored to the throne and fighting for the most part shifted to the Middle East, Mongolia and China.

In China the Americans who had spent almost three years preparing found initial success in thier campaigns, able to push up to the yellow river without much difficulty. As Chinese forces returned from India however the front became a slaughterhouse with thousands and later millions dead on both sides.

In The West, the Middle East crumbled from a combined assault from the Crimea in the North and Israel in the south. Eventually the two Imperial armies would link at the Anatolian foothills officially sealing the Eastern Roman 'Republic's' doom.

Without Oil from the Middle east the Chinese grew increasingly desperate and began to conscript vast swathes of it's population to fight the encroaching Americans on home soil, and the Imperials in India. By 1944 India had been liberated by Holy Roman Forces and Indian communist partisans and Holy Roman Armored divisions had begun to arrive to assist the Americans in China.

1945 brought a definitive end to the war, as Holy Roman Armor pushed into the Chinese Capital at Jianxing, later seizing the entire core region of the country. Chinese Generals defected enmass, siding with the Monarchist Chiang Kai Shek and later crowned Empress Wu Zetian with Imperial approval far later after the war.

With China out, the Holy Roman Empire decided to send a firm message to the remaining hostiles in Britain and South America and made extensive use of Nuclear Weapons to bring about a quick surrender from both countries.

The years following the war were dominated by the major issue of Occupied China having an increasing amount of Influence over the Holy Roman Empire. The Dominion of California being torn between the Holy Roman Sphere and it's continental Allies and a sudden and violent civil war in the African Dominion of Lindi as decolonization sentiment reached a Maximum.

All three of these Crises would cause major issues for the Empire, and in particular the Chinese Issue would ultimately result in a succession Crisis following the death of Emperor Claudius III. A crisis that would allow for an American invasion of California and subsequent Nuclear War between the United States, India, Holy Roman Empire and Russia.

But all was not lost, Using recovered Alien technology UNAP or United Nations Aerospace Program was formed after the space race for the moon in the 1970's. UNAP would develop experimental Arc Ships, funded by both crowdfunding and major countries to colonize distant habitable star systems, as well as Mars.

By the Time Earth had blown itself to smithereens Mars was already being terraformed through extensive effort of UNAP, the Holy Roman Empire and other member states.

Now as the Fires of War peter out on Earth, Humanity has found a home on Mars. It is a dusty rock, devoid of any life except those the Colonists have brought with them but it is now home. If Humanity is to survive it must now look outwards and upwards. Under the boy Emperor Julius, House Anniona, and the Holy Roman Empire have one last chance and this time the game is not just for Earth, but the Galaxy itself.

Some House Rules I'm keeping too: (I am going into this relatively blind thanks to all the mods so I cant really say I know many exploits)
1. Gonna avoid being particularly gamey with the mods if I find something stupidly broken
2. No switching out of Autocratic Government forms
3. When the first Crisis fires, I will fire the other two.
4. Custom Start, I have seeded the Universe with custom factions with super starts (Ringworld Pieces, Gaia worlds etc) This is to offset the awesomeness that is the Fallen Empire Sol System i'm using.

Goals:
1. All Human derivative factions must be annexed/purged/enslaved.
2. Recolonize Terra (Fairly Easy)
3. Kill all the Fallen Empires
4. Universal Conquest, Allies are allowed but I need to conquer them eventually
5. Outside of Crisis Federations/Fallen Empire subjugations, I am not allowed to Join any Federations and need to get independence as soon as possible once the Crisis is over or I can beat my Fallen Empire overlord.

I'm using a whole ****ton of mods here. Here's the list. Not gonna Include links becuase well, it'll take forever and half of these I had to fiddle around to get them to be compatible.

The most common colour of star is red, the dim red dwarfs guttering along.

An appropriate colour I think, for the slaughter that is doubtless going to be riven across the stars.

Those are some very ambitious goals you've got, considering your starting position. I suppose the premise for this AAR will force me to change a few things in my own AAR, seeing as I want mine to not just be a copy of yours.

Prelude Part 1: Uniting the Red Planet (2020-2100)

When the last of the Human refugees from Earth had arrived on Mars the planet was still very much being terraformed and being made capable for human life. With no Oil or coal to speak of, power on mars came one of three ways, wind solar or geothermal power and the various mining companies and remnants of national governments that controlled the power, controlled the planet.

Open warfare on the red planet would be unheard of in the early days, there simply wasn't enough resources to spare from the Terraforming projects. Instead, underneath the vast Solar platforms and habitat stations a silent war was being waged for control with the Holy Roman Empire being right in the middle of it. Each day as the Red planet's atmosphere filled above Soldiers and Civilian militias fought for control over for the infrastructure that would allow them control of the planet's future.

(Emperor Julius Anniona)
The Most Influential and Most Powerful of these warring factions was the Holy Roman Empire who controlled almost 40% of all Operations on Mars at the time of the Great War. After the initial confusion and expected defections the Holy Roman Empire still managed to maintain control over 1/3rd of the planet's population and had considerably influence with the UNAP.

Leading them was the Boy Emperor, Julius Anniona, the last surviving direct descendent of the main Anniona Bloodline and among those loyal to the Empire, Anniona Blood was as valuable as the blood of the divine itself. Emperor Julius had an ancestry of direct lineage to the founding members of his house, Eastern Roman Emperors, House Bonaparte and Charlemagne and was the recognized direct descendent of the Chinese Wu Dynasty and the Sun Emperors of the Incan Empire and Japan.

Over a Hundred separate popes in Rome had been the Progeny of an Anniona Father and at one time the Dynasty had direct control over 70% of Earth through various cadet branches puppet states and colonial Empires. While Pro Austrian forces maneuvered afield the surviving Roman aristocracy had already begun to wage their own war over the boy Emperor as the military secured more territory from rogue groups.

(Map of Mars in 2026, Holy Roman Aligned Settlements are Light Blue, Americans are in Green, Indian in Purple, Russo-Scandinavian settlements are in Red and Neutral/UNAP facilities are in black)
By 2025 the situation had consolidated somewhat as various settlements had organized themselves into separate factions usually based on ethnicity. The Holy Roman landing zones around Olympus Mon's for the most part had stayed unified and were host to mostly Chinese, Japanese, Austrian and Italian Colonists. Across the Sea of Amazonas were the still feuding American descended Democratic Federation and Indian descended Socialist Republic of Mars. The remaining states fell to the Russian and Scandinavian Confederation and facilities still firmly under control of UNAP either through their importance to the terraforming of Mars or for protection against what otherwise looked to be yet another divided world of bitter rivalries and nation states.

The Areas left unclaimed had been labeled the Martian Badlands and had for the most part remained as uninhabitable deserts, dotted with occasional mining and pirate outposts as well as elicit research centers where Science thought to be too unsavory for UNAP was performed.

By the 2030's Open Warfare had finally begun on Mars' Surface. Salvaged military technologies and greater manpower enabled the Holy Roman Empire to once more blitz across the surface of the planet. The First targets would be pirate bases but eventually military forces would move on and attempted seize territories from the Russians and Americans and finally the Indians. With so few men to fight, and less resources to fight it the Holy Roman strategy of blitzing across the continent allowed for defenses and fighting personnel to be incapacitated far quicker than conventional warfare back on earth.

At Home the Holy Roman Empire had used it's influence and connections with UNAP for more resources and research personnel, allowing Aristocratic competitions to grow more lavish. The Martian Imperial Palace would be one such result, being constructed in old architectural styles harkening back to antiquity.

Culturally, Humanity on Mars no longer had the vast array of arts and histories to pull from. The archives were gone and many old books, movies and tapes hadn't been converted into digital data. Major works, such as the plays of Shakespeare, photographs of famous palaces and statues as well as popular movies and books did manage to survive, but often the context for such works of art was lost forever, and as the so called 'Julian' generation grew, Imperial Advisors had taken liberties changing the histories to intermix christian myth's of Eden with those of the Great Atomic War. Christianity, ever a unifying force in the past had been severely weakened after millennia if domination by the Holy Roman Empire and the final nuking of Rome by communists. On Mars however it became a valuable tool, as the bible served it's purpose yet again and was the base of a new culture.

Democracy once a great centerpoint of old human culture had died a quiet death. It was of course a boring alternative for many children when what was being presented was the romantic fusion of the beliefs of Divine Mandate, Japanese and European Feudalism and Absolute Monarchy. All of these ideals had become intermixed into an ever changing 'Imperial' culture(Later Called Terran). By the Time Julius had come of age these false histories had seduced the Emperor as well and soon the Wealthy and Aristocratic families of influence had become nobles, Scientists had become fused with the clergy yet again, and the Army had devolved back into the days of Chivalry and personal accomplishment with a distinctly 'Imperial' Twist as this time both Western and Eastern Cultures had come together.

The Military had perhaps too willingly accepted it's new Role as the Enforcement arm of the Empire. In Austria in particular the Air Force in particular had been always portrayed in propaganda as Knights of the Sky defending the Empire from harm. First came banners, as old unit emblems evolved into flags. With the lack of proper training facilities, supplies and manpower officers had resorted to apprenticeship, soon the ranks fell away, Vehicles and equipment had become the Modern Horse and Armor as it was requisitioned and distributed on a personal basis. Less rigorous training meant soon the last vestiges of the Old Military code of ethics and standard procedure had merged until Senior 'Knight Commanders' formalized what would be called 'The Code' which was a simple list of tenants for militant servants of the Empire to follow.

The Original list of Tenants was as follows:

Loyalty- All good men must know the orders of Loyalty, First to your Emperor who must always be protected and obeyed, Service to your Empire after, Service to your Elders, Service to your Kin and then your Master, Even if this must means you must shed blood in defense of them.

Honesty- Speak no false truths and when Ignorant, Seek to Learn the Truth. As a dishonest Man is a man without honor. Take no False Masters, and Take no False Gods.

Courage- A virtue only in the cause of righteousness, do not fear death as only Death for an unworthy cause was termed a dog”s death. Death in service of the Empire is a good death and should not be avoided unless one's death would be meaningless.

Honor- You shall not Kill your fellow Man unless he is armed, You shall not harm the Weak, whether they be the Elderly or Child. You shall honor your word and no bear false witness, you shall be as you wish others to be to you.

Courtesy- You shall speak no vulgarity, nor condone it in any form. You shall take no privileges with the kin of the fallen, nor spoils from their homes. You must always make efforts to make others feel welcome, to feel safe and you must be patient with those who are learning and those would seek to draw you down a darker path

Justice- You shall always judge others as is fair and in accordance with the law. You shall refrain from judging others based on outward appearances or characteristics. You Shall refrain from judging others based on their station in life. You must do the same for yourself and no value yourself above others and seek to advance yourself at the expense of others.

Benevolence- It becomes you to always act in the interest of others. You must provide assistance to those who need with wisdom or action as required. You shall keep to yourself those things which are seen or heard, but may cause physical or emotional damage to another. you shall keep your own relationships with others private, and not hold their relationship up to public scrutiny.

Many of the Code's virtues were made with good intentions but like Chivalry and Bushido before it those good virtues taught within were often ignored real life.

Meanwhile what remained of the independent settlements on Mars as well as UNAP were horrified as how easily and quickly the Holy Roman Empire had fallen into Neo-Feudalism. With no real effective resistance to stop it however, Holy Roman Troops continued their marches across the wastes taking control of habitat zones, and populated areas alike. leading them was none other than the Boy Emperor of Mars Himself, Julius Anniona.

When there was no resistance left, the Julius turned on UNAP, seizing most of it's population centers a a swift campaign. UNAP had of course joined with remaining American and Indian forces to resist the Empire in a move known as 'The Great Betrayal' but it was ultimately futile and justice was swift. Julius Anniona had inherited the Anniona spark, the very same that Inspired Emperors long in the past and as the boy Emperor grew he took to the field, winning battle after battle even when heavily outnumbered. The Boy Emperor had been impressionable from an early age and with no parents had turned to the epics reading about Caesar, Alexander, Christopher and Napoleon.

By the age of 22 Julius had set firm rules for his own descendents (The Emperor had already fathered a bastard Child named 'Octavian' by this point). He banned marrying outside the Anniona bloodline after reading about Christopher the Great and his Japanese 'divine' ancestry(which of course had led to the awkward problem of he and his descendants were the only Annionas left). By the time he had finished with Ancient Rome he had either named his conquered settlements after himself (In the style of Alexander) or after ancient roman provinces. Upon reading about the Anniona domination of the Curia, he had himself named Pope and announced the title would now be hereditary and had shifted his preference of titles from Emperor to Augustus, to Caesar to Holy Father, God Emperor until finally he stopped caring what he was called so long as he felt it was suitably impressive, then wrote it into law word for word "So Long as it is suitably impressive". Among other 'suitably insane' acts.

By 2040 The Holy Roman Empire had seized the entire planet, though some resistance remained out in the badlands, and thousands more fled in hijacked Arc ships either returning to earth, or lefting the system entirely. UNAP Scientists had coined the destruction of Earth 'A Second Dark Age' and for the most part, they were right as governance of Mars fell to the local governors appointed by the Emperor and his council.

Progress of course, continued as habitation zones expanded further through the use of genetically modified plant life, and shipments of gases from Earth and Venus. With the entire efforts of Humanity focused on mars, what was expected to be a Thousand Year project was shortened to only 200 years with the planet expected to be as habitable as old earth by 2180.

In 2045 Emperor Julius had announced that the Military would return to earth to rescue the millions of people still suffering after the 'Rapture' as the Nuclear War was now being called. Six billion people had lived on earth, the war had taken many of them and yet many more survived as they took shelter in prepared bunkers, metro tunnels or old mining shafts.

The Planet was of course in no shape to be recolonized as hypercanes ripped holes in the old terran landscape with radiation and mutated wildlife rendering the more stable areas uninhabitable. With this in mind Military went ahead with the evacuation and Reports of Strange Metal Men touching down outside of various major cities were reported in survivor encampments the world over. Initially attempts to make contact were met with gunfire and when the shooting didn't happen Imperial Commanders had realized the slang fusion of Eastern and Western language had cause difficulty communicating with the survivors.

Nevertheless the Empire proceeded, rescuing over five hundred million in total by the project's completion roughly half of the estimated earth population after the Rapture. For these Second Generation Exiles adjusting to life on Mars was both hard and sort of familiar. Radiation levels had meant like on earth staying outside for too long was a death sentence, the air was also mostly unbreathable so breath masks were still required when venturing outside. The sheer cold for many of these exiles was also familiar as the Earth was just leaving its nuclear winter. Neo-Antiquity styled buildings and the advanced far more care free lifestyle on the red planet however had come as a massive shock.

Sadly, stories from ruined earth had been the final nail in what was the old human culture, Mars was prospering through virtue of the Emperor (And Thousands of scientists which were not receiving much credit) and Earth was dying without it. By the time the 'Thirds' named for the Third Generation on mars had reached adulthood, Human culture from before the war had become but a bittersweet memory.

By 2093 Emperor Julius, Conquerer of the Red Planet had died, leaving four Children to continue the Anniona line. The Great Reconquest had ended, Humanity had been unified and thousands rescued from the crucible of Earth. With decades left before Mars would be fully habitable however the games for the future of the human race were now only just beginning.

Those are some very ambitious goals you've got, considering your starting position. I suppose the premise for this AAR will force me to change a few things in my own AAR, seeing as I want mine to not just be a copy of yours.
Well I guess now we know how Gotterdammerung ends, massive nuclear war and a flight to mars :p Here I was thinking I was throwing a curveball

Also, can I do a synopsis for this world's version of Star Wars?
And can I do one for this universe's Star Trek?
Knock yourselves out.

Well, it is called Gotterdammerung. And you're a little off about my planned ending. I never said my ending was going to be exactly like yours...:p

Great for the interlude! I'll type it up at some point over the weekend or next week.

Oh, what FTL are you using? Hyperdrive or wormholes?

Yeah, same here. I found warp drives would fit best into my own story. Not to copy you or anything, but are you going to use missiles as well?

Nope, Mass Drivers baby, I only wish 'Spinal Mounts' werent an endgame tech, becuase they don't exactly seem all to difficult to research, just build the entire ship around a gun barrel, there done, I just saved everyone 60,000 research :p

Why even build a ship around a gun barrel when you can just build a mobile gun barrel? Eliminates such costly add-ons like crew and life-support.:p

Edit: But why does your title picture have ships with lasers if you're using mass drivers?
