How does the Great Schism split side happen? I've experienced it three times so far, my first was a Czech Catholic, while the Kiev and Novgorod turned Orthodox and Byzantine was Iconoclast, but everything else was relatively akin with history.

My next two Schisms were Norman/Outremer in Egypt and Polish in Poland and for some reason they were both Orthodox. I'm curious as to what mechanic determines how the split happens. I'm able to eventually overcome it by marrying an Iberian or Italian princess, but it takes a while to convert all vassals from Orthodox to Catholic, and even in England and the HRE orthodox kings/electors popped up for no reason.
