So playing my Determined Exterminator Hive Mind, I was reminded just how much of a massive bonus I get when I capture a biological world and purge its population. So the Planetbuster or the Neutronic Blast would be subpar strategy for me. My empire wants to be up-close and personal when we kill meatbags.

But then I realized... Could I just keep some biological minor empires near me, select the Raider perk, and periodically harvest their population for energy and unity?

Does this work, or I can't steal undesirable pops?

Well, actually, the only real problem I have is with "Determined Exterminator Hive Mind". When I first read your post, I had no idea if you were a Ravenous Swarm or an actual Determined Exterminator until I saw "meatbags". Yes, it's nitpicky, but it's also not hard to just remember what things are called. It's not about knowing how to spell some random uncommon word, it's just about using the right terminology.

Not my post. And maybe it isn't hard for you - and it's not for me, either - but is it really so outlandish that many people just remember 'Oh, the neutron thingy' instead of specifically 'Neutron Sweep'?

what i do when playing exterminators is i never conquer planets (since the stability affects ressource output), ill use the raiding stance to suck up all but 1 pop from a planet, and then i armaggedon bombard the planet to turn it into a tomb world, the purging happens on my own planets (thats the reason why i always have like my fortress worlds NOT be machine worlds)

I don't mind. I know my grasp of the correct terminology is extremely fickle. For me, a Hive mind is a Hive Mind, the only detail after is if it's biological or not :p

Still, no offense to someone who nitpick, but the criticism fly over my head, even if I know that I react the exact same way about stuff that I happen to obsess over the nomenclature.

I ragged for days when my sister-in-law proudly told me that her big baby was rated in the "113th percentile!" o_0

As a matter of fact, Determined Exterminators are hive minds. Machine Intelligences are a subcategory of the larger group referred to as Hive Minds. His terminology was entirely correct. I can't even call that correction nitpicking since he wasn't wrong to begin with, even if you'd prefer referencing it by subcategory instead.

I don't know about you, or the OP for that matter, but I do play quite a lot of games, including similarly thematic space empire games, which will often have the same general idea for a weapon or technology but slightly different terminologies within that game. (Gauss Rifle/Cannon vs Coilgun vs Railgun, or Planet-Buster vs World Cracker, and tbh Planet Buster rolls off the tongue better). Real life has plenty of jargon that needs knowing too, which is usually a slightly higher priority to know. So yes, it's understandable if he doesn't use the exact insisted terminology for the "Planetbuster" since we all knew what he was talking about, no need to be so pedantic.

The larger category is called gestalt Consciousness though, with the subcategories Hive Mind and Machine Intelligence. So saying Determined Exterminator Hive Mind is in fact wrong, while Determined Exterminator Gestalt Consciousness as well as Determined Exterminator Machine intelligence would be correct.

The ethic was initially called Hive-Minded, before the introduction of Machine Empires. Afterwards, it got changed to the current terminology.

There are moments I wonder if Paradox just like to see how monstrous we can become

I have massive fun playing spiritualist, militant, slaver empires with Raiding bombardment. It's literally the only thing I played last month.
It's hilarious to steal huge numbers of pops and just become a science and industry leader in the early to mid game where growing pops is tediously slow.

Purifier with raider perk is exactly what I'm gonna do this weekend for the new patch, heard it's very fun.

Just tested. In 2.2.5, is it normal that the whole universe attacked me at once? I'm just a peaceful purifier.

Also machine empires are too OP ! I'm playing only on Commodore with scaled and you can see my resources in mid game, how TF the Device Foundry be superior to me? And it's only because of the economy. Both fleet power and tech level are overwhelming me. WTF.

Yeah, clever leaders just ignore all this nonsense from xeno scum and stab them w/o warning when time is right.

And for your game... You are rather weak for that date. 7 planets are 7 planets. Normally I'd get latest by year 20. And having 200 odd pops is too low as well, meaning you could house them on just two worlds...

There are moments I wonder if Paradox just like to see how monstrous we can become

I think the peak has been reached already. It's either:

Capture/uplift a species only to genemod them to being delicious and turn them into livestock, or make them into slaves and sell them back to their own empire.
