"Before it's too late"

Too late for what, exactly? Paradox have a tendency to patch and balance their games for years after release, if something is horribly broken id be shocked if it stayed that way. Lets wait until we have hands on experience with the game before calling it unbalanced, shall we? :)

Here is the thing: Until you know all the "hidden" benefits of the ethics (events, decisions, buildings, units, ec), you can't make balance suggestions just by pointing at the ethic bonus itself.

If you want examples:
"Church Attendance Duty" in EU3 was terrible in terms of stats - but the fact that it frequently triggered +1 stab events made it worthwhile.
"Laissez-Faire" in Vicky 2 sounds amazing on paper, but the terrible capitalist AI makes it really, really bad for the first half of the game.
"Spy Network" duty for your spymaster in CK2 seems useless - unless one of the money related events triggers and gives you a giant headstart in the early game that allows you to overwhelm your neighbors.

i thought that, too. maybe 24h ban? ban again plz, forever. obvious troll is obvious, and no i´m not "fanboying" but OPs posts are just not very constructive and often impolite/hateful.

Now you are being hateful and impolite. I gave my time and brain powers to anylize the game, and it was hard because I am just an observer, so I had to apply my theoretical knowledge and my pife experience to find out truth. You will see that I am right in a few weeks, trust me.

I agree with almost all these analyses. I think you have assiduously and correctly identified some glaring differences in ethos strength and should be applauded for your perspicacity. It is truly beyond my why everyone downvoted you, other than perhaps jealousy that they weren't as perceptive.

However, I don't care about balance, and in fact prefer that there be underpowered builds available for the challenge. Playing collectivist/militarist/xenophile is like starting a CK2 game as the Abbasids: you're just here for the steamroller. Playing individualist/pacifist/xenophobe is like starting an EUIV game as the Shawnee: you're a masochist and enjoy the taste of defeat.

So I agree with your analysis, but disagree with your solution. Still 10/10 analysis though.

Thank you, I really like your open mind and inner wisdom. About envy, I am used to it, many people are envious, it's ok.

I gave my time and brain powers to anylize the game,

It is unkind of me to pick on people's spelling, but in this sentence it's also funny.

Wow, I was actually lame enough to read through OPs previous posts. I dont think he is trolling, he really does belive he understands how the game works just from watching one stream, of one game, in the beta build.
You don't seem to understand what "information" is or what "conclusions" are, so I'm going to try and explain the concept to you in-context.

1) Stellaris is not out yet, so who knows what will be in the game?
2) One of the Dev Diaries says there are 3 kinds of starting FTL
3) We saw Wiz pick from a list of 3 types of FTL at the start of the Blorg stream
4) Therefore, we have information which can lead us to lend some credibility to the conclusion that the finished game of Stellaris will have 3 kinds of starting FTL.

Now, if you can follow the logic of 1-4 there, I don't understand why you think OP's application of the exact same chain of reasoning to ethos strengths makes him a worse intellectual criminal than Lysenko. We have some information. That information points towards a conclusion. The conclusion might end up being wrong because changes get made before release, sure, but with the information we have now, I'd say his conclusions are pretty reasonable.

Skirting the whole issue that the ethoses are already under balancing and the data on the wiki and the stream is outdated, I would wait and see until we actually know what the new ethoses are before making quality assessment of them.

The OP:

The pife is strong with this one.

But really, you have no idea. I mean common, you have watched one stream. Its like my cousins husband who tries to advise me on how to play chess. Its a little frustrating as I have over 8000 games under my belt and he has some strange opening called the farmers picket his dad taught him.

(There is a reason you've never seen Magnus Carlson open in the farmers picket)

(I hate magnus carlson I hope he loses the WCC this time, hes a douchebag)

Hes proposing changes based on what he has concluded from watching one stream. I suggest you go back and read OPs posts where he is arguing with Wiz about what went on in the stream before you jump on what im saying.

I mean it takes hundreds of hours of gameplay before you can determine exactly what is balanced and what is not.

I find it amazing that so many forum goers apparently are smarter and have more experience making games that people working as actual game developers.

I would love to see the games these people have made.

On top of that, I think it is close to insulting to make posts like the op.
He is basically saying that the developers must be so stupid that they would not even have caught such huge imbalances as he points out (10 - 1 overpowered).

Having open development must be like an electrician coming out to work at a house and having the customer standing behind him going on and on about how things should be done and how HE could do it better.

They arent stupid. I RESPECT DEVELOPERS. They just lack angle sometimes and sometimes they miss obvious, because they work hard. Thats why they need people like me: smart and observant to help them fix problems.

The fact is that his conclusions are weak. The information he has to base his conjectures on is limited, and there is a number of gaps we know are there, but that we have no details to properly quantify. As an example, we can't properly judge whether Xenophile or Xenophobe is better, because we don't know by how much Xenophobe decreases military conquest costs, how significant that cost is in an average campaign, and what is the so acclaimed super-good tech they supposedly get. Any comparison between those two ethos will only arrive at conclusions built over weak ground.

I want to make what I care about better. If thats pathetic then all bodybuilders are pathetic. And I was bodybuilding in my teens and early 20s, and I tell you, people who bodybuild arent pathetic. Trust me.

Ok, after reading this post I have to agree with you guys. OP is a complete troll.

Hes proposing changes based on what he has concluded from watching one stream.
And he is right to do so, when that's all information he has access to.
I suggest you go back and read OPs posts where he is arguing with Wiz about what went on in the stream before you jump on what im saying.
What is a man to do, when his eyes tell him differently to what his High Priest proclaims?

He was trying to tell Wiz at one point that he didnt lose any battles in that war. He apparently was not watching the same stream I was watching.

And anyway, this is like me watching a EU4 stream and going "HOLY CRAP guys ive done analysis and because Admin tech gives you ideas its very OP, look at humanism a WHOLE 25% religious unity bonus, you have to level admin tech"

This would indicate that id never played the game. You cant conclude anything from watching one stream and than making comments on how the game needs to be changed.

Just wait it will be out soon.
