My biggest frustration in HoI2/3 is that I can't understand why my army or navy won or lost. It can be really helpful if it shows the contributing factors and detailed comparison of both parties in combat results.

Also, I can't understand what is my airforce doing. I can't see the effect of bombing or air combat, because the each combat is so brief. I want more meaningful result screen for air operations and combats.

I'm sooo happy if it is realized in HoI4.

Well in both you can see what modifiers are causing the battle to proceed in what way. As the game may have 10 or more battles going at any one time it is hard for the game to stop each time and explain to you the details of the battle.

The air war however has been completely redone.

This is very important if they want to make the game more friendly to new users.

I wouldn't say "very important". It would be nice but the previous games already do a good job of this. It's a matter of playing your commanders and attaching them to the correct type of division. And then making sure you attack the right kind of division for the most perfect results.

Could it be better, sure. But it's not critical.

The learning curve to figure these out isn't hard. Also you can change notifications as well to notify you via pop up when something happens. Usually paradox games can be quite annoying about it if you want it to be set up that way.

Im currently getting back into HoI2, as I've played that before. HoI3 was still not very enjoyable to me after ~10 hours, but even in HoI2 Im still unsure of the exact effects of planes, I just know how many to make approx. and what to make them do. Would be nice to see a less complicated system or at least simpler to understand in Hoi4

Yeah, this is a big problem for many new players of Paradox games. HOI3 in particular has a bunch of vague, unexplained modifiers which makes it probably the hardest current Paradox game to understand. It's very difficult though to summarize everything automatically for the player though. How do you show that the battle was lost because of a bunch of enemy reinforcements for instance? Should you do a timeline of the battle or something? Possible, but it comes with a bunch of design problems. It would be nice to see effort in this direction, but there really isn't any substitute to learning the basic battle mechanics and actually watching the battles. Fortunately Paradox has improved the battle interface to make things much more clear in EU4 and I expect they will do so in HOI4.

IMO, it would be very helpful, if player got (optional) regular reports on losses on each front - this way you would be able to compare map changes, to casualties that you suffered to achieve those frontline movements.

Also have losses of troops, equipment etc. in some kind of small database with ability to sort them in multiple ways (different countries, alliances, frontlines, over different time, overlaying you production over that etc.) - this would allow player to properly analyze mid-long term trends etc.

I find what to produce and the like is more difficult than the fighting. I always seem to under produce and when I turn to the East I have a huge disparity in troop numbers.

Some kind of optional post-battle log of all the different phases, the stats involved modifiers applied, and the damage done would be invaluable to learning how it all worked. You could get this more-or-less from HoI3, but you had to pause and take note each phase (which is every hour!). With a log, you could easily scan down and see the hours where you did the most damage and why, and the hours you took the most damage and why, and make more informed choices about changing strategy. Great suggestion Araipiyo, a quality third post :).

Some kind of longer-term report would also be very handy (and I suspect invaluable for the air and possibly the sea war), good thinking :).

Yes you can se the modifiers but its only by way of the bar on top you can see if you win or not since the enemy can have better modifiers and you still will. I think this could be a lot better

As for me it would be good to keep track of how many losses in total have i inflicted, destroyed tank, planes, men, ships etc. But I think this will be better in HOI4.

What I would like is some way to see before I attack, depending on my intel, should I attack or not. I understand that you can have the wrong info but many times the commanders knew what was in front of them(at least is it a corps/div, tank/inf etc).

I'd be happy enough if each concluded battle was represented by a small icon on the map for 24 hours or so which you could then click for details and a battle timeline, like you suggest. That way you can focus your attention on what you feel were important battles and let the rest simply fade away without the hassle of getting 250 popups a day when a major offensive takes place.

A detailed combat report would be really really awesome for naval and land battles, although it should be optional, because not everyone might want to know all the stats...

What i would love:

1st: combat log of ship battles, which shows, which ship engaged enemy ships ("bismarck" assisted in sinking of "hood" and received 14 exp, "essex" launched air raid against "hiryu" and received 30 exp, "tirpitz" got damaged by "warspite" and lost 10 exp, etc...)

2nd: detailed stats of losses after land combat (1. Infanterie Division won the battle in voronezh with a total loss of 1289 men [879 rookies, 210 experienced, 200 veterans] and caused 1765 casualties)

3rd: a percent value, which factors influenced the outcome of the battle against the enemy (numeral advantage of experienced soldiers + 19 %, land doctrine + 24 %, superior equipment + 26 %, weather - 17 %, entrenchment - 34 %, etc)

4th how much equipment has been lost and it's production costs to replace

Other question is, if it is doable and a point of interest for the devs to implement. :D i just love good statistics in strategy games:)

i dont see why it couldn't be i'm sure most of this is information that is already calculated by the game as said combat happens the hard part i guess would be making a information screen for us to look at.

Agreed! The screen should be informative and understandable as well...not an easy job...
