Destroying the HRE- Thoughts?

Hello there!

I'm the Empire of Britannia, and just pressed my Weak Claim on the HRE, in theory I should be the most powerful person in the world.

But now I'm in a position where my vassals are so far over the limit (43/27) that I literally can't even raise vassal levies anymore. I have to rely on the 10k or so troops from my demesne. Unless I somehow get Imperial Admin passed (which is still like 10 laws away), I'm actually a lot weaker. The only real thing I get is seeing 'BRITANNIA' stretched across Europe, which is nice I'll admit.

Seeing as I might not even live long enough to change HRE succession to Primogeniture, I was thinking just for sh*ts and giggles...what if I destroy the HRE Title and grant it's vassals independence instead?

This might sound insane to all you Map-Painters out there, but hear me out.

It would get rid of a giant blob and potential enemy in the process, and completely change the dynamic in Europe. So more opportunities for alliances and expansion. Also I'll get to keep all the vassals not part of de-jure HRE, like Provence and most of northern Italy.

Have any of you done this before? Is it worth it? Am I just crazy?

I often liked the idea of giving the de jure HRE title to a one count province with a dying ruler and let the de jure vassals vote themselves in, one by one electing their realms into servitude.

Or more likely the OPC manages to make them all swear fielty and reigns for a thousand years.

Lost Greece and Anatolia to Fatimid/Seljuk combo. Pope called a Crusade for Greece and gave it to some Croatian guy who genocided all the Greeks, then called another for Anatolia and gave it to the Teutons. Byzantium itself got exploded all over the place and turned elective.
