Hello,

My wish would be to be able to mount a planet destroyer on every Titan I'm building, instead of the massive, defenseless, slow as hell, useless Colossus :)

I love to play on the largest scale galaxy, against the highest number possible of empires, with random massive scale wars that I manage to dominate in the end. At a certain point, when I defeat all other empires and my resources are maxed, I just purge clean all the enemy planets left in the game, to end the "suffering" of my previous attackers. Usually the empires attacking me, while I'm weak in the beginning, are my favorite targets in the end...

Yeah, it's kinda boring to do the same thing every time, but it's the same way I was playing Master of Orion also. I love to swipe clean the galaxy map before starting a new game.

Sorry for the comparison, but while in Master of Orion you can build as many Doom Stars equipped with Stellar Converters as you wish and go destroy everything in your path, in Stellaris I have to slowly crawl one ship alone between systems. This makes the game very long and boring for me and I feel less motivated to start another game, knowing that the ending will be slow & boring as hell.

I didn't play Stellaris in weeks now, just waiting for a way to make the large galaxy games faster destroying enemy empires ... and then you offer the diplomacy expansion instead of an official way to destroy the entire galaxy in 15 minutes :) Of course I didn't buy the diplomacy expansion since I love blowing things up not making peace with the AI :) But that's me :p don't be offended.

I don't want to use mods or cheats. I just want an official way to destroy more planets in different systems at the same time.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you for your answer !!!

GuildenSpur are you on beta ? If so, please tell me the version, because my game only allows one to be built.

Maybe it is something I'm not doing correctly !? I'm sure I'm playing the latest official release, but not any betas.

GuildenSpur was talking about a Mod that you can install via Steam Workshop that enables you to build more than one Colossus

Completely disagree. When you have something that can destroy planets in a single shot, it needs disadvantages that offset its strengths. This is especially true in the case of a planet cracker weapon. This is an ENTIRE PLANET we're talking about. The slowness of the colossus gives the defender a last chance to save the planet.

I don't get why you can only ever build one. They are, as has been observed. slow in all regards and very expensive. I don't think I'd build a second, personally (except maybe to have a Neitron Sweep *and* a planet cracker, or one of those froopy brainwashing ones for variety), but if you want to blow up planets as your way of avoiding micro, I'm not sure why the restriction existed in the first place.

I think there's a possibility to add more colossi without breaking the balance and allow players to mop up this way. But it would have to be pretty strict and limited to 1p games. There'd be no way to balance mp games.
Also limited to the % of the galaxy held by a player. If you have 75% of the galaxy in your empire, then you don't have any opposition anymore anyway, so let loose. Or maybe require an ascension perk slot for every colossus you build.
Problem is that probably this isn't desired enough to be worth implementing. Is anyone going to buy the game just because you can now build multiple death stars? Unlikely. Especially if there's a mod that lets you have multiple anyway. In that case the only real demand could come from console players.

I'm on the fence about this. On the one hand, limiting it to only one colossus seems like a gamey arbitrary limit, but neither do I want them to be common or easy to spam out. Perhaps they should be treated like titans, where your limit is determined by naval capacity, but set a higher bar for them. Perhaps you don't get a second colossus until you reach 1000 naval capacity (I think it's 500 for titans).

I agree I definitely don't want spammable colossus. Though I'm not entirely opposed to more than 1. At the moment I struggle to even use the ascension perk in a game. It has roleplay value, but as far as efficient or effective, it is simply not. Having more than 1 wouldn't actually change that, but it might increase its roleplay value. At the least it would allow for some epic moments like blasting every planet in a system simultaneously.

Edit: Maybe if.. taking your suggestion a step further: Not only would it be tied to fleet cap, but would represent a huge fleet amount as well, and have a high maintenance cost. Maybe if it was every 1000 fleet, but it also represented 1000 in fleet. So if your fleet cap is 1000, and you have 1000 in fleet, then getting a 2nd colossus would be ridiculously expensive putting you at 2000/1000.

It's "Per 200 or part thereof" for Titans, but "per 1000 or part thereof" would work as a Titan cap. So would per 500, I think; there's an opportunity cost, and it isn't small, so a relatively liberal limit wouldn't be intolerable for such a specialist unit. Or 1 per n Titans you have built where n could be anything from 5 to 20.

There should be more collosus, like unrestricted number, but all of them should have really huge meintenence cost like 2000 EC, and 500 Alloys/month, and in time of using it, it should rise EC cost 2 times. This way everyone could get them how many they wants, but restrictions would limit the effective number to just one, unless empire is really powerfull and can afford that, but at that time it would even not need that.
But what i would really love to see is ability to queue all planets i want to shine with my collosi.
