Damn.. i've tried to add influence points to the colonial buildings in the projects_cost.txt to slow down more the colonizing, but it doesn't works! :mad:

Consider carefully if you do want to slow down colonisation or prevent it for a while. My approach is to prevent it until 1880 for most nations. But from 1880-1900 all of Africa was grabbed. So my mod probably needs a faster colonisation rate.

It was only an idea of mine but i doesn't work as i said before.

Nice Mod, having played it up to 1872, the way Africa and the Pacific are progressing is much nicer than in my previous games.

You mention that the AI can break the treaty, but I don't see any way to break the ban, playing the US. Have I missed something?

Yep - no problem. I'd reduce the colonisation time to 2 years though and look at reducing the leadership requirements too. Maybe even the cost as well.

At the moment UK and Portugal seem to be too good at snapping up all of Africa. Really want France to do something but she seems to be spending all her money on war at the crucial times.

Maybe add a few crucial French blocker claims in key colonies to allow France to gain more colonies.

Rarely and ineffectively.

Although I suggested reducing the colony times to 2 years rather than 4 I'm coming around to two changes.

1. Reduce time to build colony to 3 years
2. Reduce leadership requirement to 1 point.

I'm also thinking of allowing France a free hand in Africa from the start to counteract her weak performance.

Alternate version will go up soon.

I have since run a bunch of hands off games with this MOD and VIP...they work great together.

France does great with this mod and VIP .11 due to a improved AI...go look in the VIP colonization thread its all about this MOD (and how to improve it)more or less :)

Derek, I've noticed in the 3 games since I upgraded to 1.03 (and VIP 0.11) that Prussia/Germany is gobbling up tons of colonies, mostly in the Pacific. They don't do much in Africa, but Micronesia and Polynesia are usually 100% Prussian/German by 1860. It may be worthwhile to add a prohibition on German colonization in Oceana until 1870ish.

I just discovered this:
In the colony_stop section there is a colony_stop for Denmark, however, it is listed as DEN which is null (save games list it as '---'). It should be DAN.

I was always wondering why Denmark had some claims in africa/oceania :)

Is this a problem with the colonization mod or with VIP?
