Playing as count of Salerno/duke of Sardinia, I married to a de Hauteville girl who was depressed but which didn't lead to infertile.

depressioninfertileno.jpg

Thise pregnancy brought a daughter and she is currently pregnant again.

My ruler, the husband is a country cousin, so his fertility stats shouldn't be super

This is the duke

character = {
id = { type = 4712 id = 65007 }
dyn = 100336
tag = SARD
name = "Aripert"
home = 336
date = "10671000"
gender = male
religion = catholic
culture = "iberian"
score = { gold = 163.188 prestige = 215.940 piety = 196.770 }
attributes = {
martial = 5.000

fertility = 4.000
}
traits = { modest = yes trusting = yes naive_wirepuller = yes }
loyalty = 1.000
dna = "44770711405688"
}

And this is the duchess

character = {
id = { type = 4712 id = 96674 }
dyn = 678
tag = SARD
name = "Judith"
home = 231
date = "10970427"
gender = female
religion = catholic
culture = "norman"
impregnationdate = "11220515"
childs_father = { type = 4712 id = 65007 }
score = { prestige = 55.000 }
attributes = {
martial = 8.624
diplomacy = 1.607
intrigue = 8.290
stewardship = 5.459

fertility = 8.237
}

father = { type = 4712 id = 31104 }
mother = { type = 4712 id = 29088 }

}

Depression should lead to -50 fertility

depression = {
attributes = { martial = -1 diplomacy = -1 intrigue = -1 stewardship = -1 health = -1 fertility = -50 }
}

But it doesn't.

Same reason why Leper didn't make for infertility; fertility modifiers don't work (properly).

Depressed shouldn't lead to infertility either. Maybe reduce it somewhat, but even when someone is in major depression there are still those who can perform.

In fact, it can be argued that one of the genders doesn't have to perform much at all... ;)

Yes we know that it's bugged. MrT even had a nice theory about it. :) Someday Johan might fix it.

No, Byakh, by all means dont!

It IS realistic if it happens every now and then that a depressed person gets a child.
After all, quite some medieval men resorted to rape even with their wifes if they'd refuse to have sex.
Also, a male person with high fertility, but depression, still can impregnate the woman if she really wants to.
One if the details might be alcohol, the others would probably be improper to tell here.

Leave it as is!
There are thousand of things that work unrealisticly why fix something that works as it should?!?:confused:

If it isn't going to be fixed and I my opinion it really isn't bugged then only change the tooltip, it says it leeds to inferility.

Yes, the tooltip should be changed to something like 'very low fertility' or 'seriously affects fertility'.

Why the hell did my post got deleted?! Ill just repost

So dont' nitpick I meant depression too. And it still doesnt have any sense to lead to infertility.

Lower yes but infertile no.

in addition:

study reported in Reproductive Endocrinology (April 2000, vol. 73, issue 4), treated women who were in their second year of infertility and not yet depressed. The women who received group psychological interventions to stem the tide of depression caused by infertility, had significantly increased viable pregnancies compared to those who did not receive preventative treatment for depression.

so women with LOW fertility (since we dont have NO) should get stressed/depressed more often :D

How was I supposed to know that you hadn't made a mistake in the reading or thinking rather than typing?

It's not nitpicking when there is a substantial practical difference, either; surely two different traits would qualify as being clearly separate?
