Hm. This update's gonna cover about 30 years.
1573:

Viva la Denmark! Our good King Frederick made another diplomatic move to unite Germany! From Danish peoples' donations, several hundred ducats came together. This allowed the state to send gifts to "buy" Pommerania just in time!...

...just in time to ally with it when its alliance expired. I was lucky, I got free money (gift to the state from rich families) and I could use that to finance the gifts. One gift, actually, as a state gift did the job.

1574-77:

Somebody really doesn't like our expansionistic plans. It turned out that a Swedish ambassador, or actually only disguised one, let 3 carts of sick rats loose. These rats decimated much of our population, before the menace could be stopped! Such infidelity! Those Swedish will suffer, only the time should come.

Pommerania are our allies. We got Plague, halved population in Jyl- Jämt- and Gotland. Many "Land"-s. :( Also, Turkey took a step and annexed Hungary.

1582:

As expected, Pommerania fell into our web. They were vassalised too, this time, by blackmailing. (The King must be running out of ideas.) 10 years and our empire will grow!

1584-87:

The Dutch have escaped from both the Persian and an English alliance! Which means... we eyed them for quite a bit, so with a few swift diplomatic actions, they are now allied! We do _not_ plan to diploannex them, EVER, though. I could do better than watch for thousands of nationalistic colonial cities.

1588-'91:

Our good king Frederik passed away! He was the best king in Danish history, or at least, most Danes think so. The big state funeral was really big, Copenhague was filled with black-clothed people. I think, that the only lucky thing about this was that there were no Swedish or Polish sabotage attempts.

Christian IV took the throne. His first observation, in '89 was that Ireland became independent, with the capital in Galway, from the French. Not much else.

1592:

Now we have the north coast! With a clever trick, a built-in spy managed to hand the nation over to us, after a decade of vassalship, and the two coast cities of Pommerania are now in our safekeeping! They're no better than the Hansa though in one thing: they always revolt. Whatever, a few decades of failures will teach them that resistance is futile.

'nuff said?

1598:

We researched... Muskets!!! YAY! We haven't improved our forts yet, but the program will start in a few years. We are ahead of the Swedish (!), we drawed out with Brandenburg and were beat in the technology race by Hannover.

1600:

Hannover is an ally! Well, here comes a new diploannexation. We will actually expand south will that, and unlike with Brandenburg, we will not hit any harmful borders. (Holland is still a friend.)

And here's the screenshot! Denmark has expanded, but that's just one thing... surprises like Spain "annexing" Portugal (he still left Tago and the colonies) and England dissolving very badly, among others, are also very important.

Nice move to have Brandenburg and the Dutch as allies. The amount of troops that small allies can field keeps surprising me. Of course possesian of Pommerania is also useful.

DoW: Maybe later, when I will be clearly superior in Scandinavia. As long as Sweden can keep Estonia, though, I will have a CB.
Acci_dent: Portugal is too far to be of any concern
CP: I think you know this, but since the AI usually recruits only in war, if it can't reach the enemy, those troops will pile up and you will see a huge army.

Seems like both England and Portugal is having a very hard time, I like the idea of sending a Danish army there to restore the Danelaw, but first you need to take more of Germany and that operation is going as planned. Nice update, let us hope Christian will do as well as Fredrik did :)

I'm sure that Portugal isn't of your concern, but I always like to see them do well. Or at least... not get beaten up.

1603-04:

War! Drumrolls! Everyone is marching! Russia has declared war upon Sweden, and with allies joining in, war is coming! The Danes have already won a heroic victory at Skane, with technology (we have muskets) against superior forces and a skilled leader.
And the Danes are sieging Västergotland!!! They have the walls breached! And...

...don't live yourself into this. Russia ended the war prematurely in 1604, where they get 3 (count'em) provinces from Sweden! We can see them as a bigger threat than the Swedish. Perhaps they are the enemies?
All that needs to be added is that, Russia got Estonia and two other provs. We have a core on Estonia though! (Dunno why) So we can now betray and attack the Russians. We'll see.

1606-08:

We attempt to make profit by offering small loans to the expansionistic Habsburgs and Russians. Not much, but why not? It does bring in some money, y' know... in 1607, the Habsburgs weaken Poland by grabbing two important provinces from the cavalry-maniacs. 1608 brings a new construction: a skilled young admiral has a plan which could basically automate ship construction to an extent, and would probably draw brave colonists as well.

1609:

Of course, the king seeks to use this new structure... he wisely sees that our inflation doesn't allow us to mint money, but with years of racking up ducats, he empties the treasury and commences the building of a great shipyard in Mecklemburg, claiming that it would help trade in that center as well. (I just noticed I can choose the mission Shipyard in Mecklemburg, so I decided to choose it and build the SY there)
The other news is that the loans are repaid. AKA Nothing.

1610-11:

These are nice years for Denmark! First, in 1610, an explorer named Jens Munk, inspired by the new naval wonder, offers to set sail and clear up the last few white spots on the coasts of North America. He is sent to rendezvous with the ex-exploring fleet in Wabana, Nye Skane... Soon we can color those whites. We also get the service of a military commander Gert Rantzau, with skills above average in everything (2/2/3). 1611 is an important date, as after a single state gift, an offer of vassalisation is accepted by Hannover! Germany will soon be unified! Also, the American colonisation reveals a small stock of gold in the trade center of Eskimalt... it's only enough for an approximate sum of 200 ducats, but this and a few more could finance said state gift.

'Nuff said.

1612-15:

The remaining important years in this era. The shipyard is ready and more colonists are arriving. Turkey got a civil war, the Celali revolts are spreading... they deserved it, the expansionistic infidels. '13 brings a deflation event, the King must have noticed the big inflation, and we also got Infra 5 to help it later. In 1615 we get Christian IV as a commander (Hmmm... was it 2/3/4/1?)

And here we have the maps. How many provinces do you know in return? The first one shows the state of Europe, the second shows our colonial empire. (mostly TPs, Bangor and Penobscot is starting to be a colony, Isle Royale, Wabana and Eskimalt and Nain [north, Eskimalt has CoT] are colonial cities)

You have kicked some Swedish ass and your Empire in Germany is growing, superb. That new naval commander who might he be? Still it seems like he did well gaining you a new explorer and also you get some leaders. I say you use the King in a war against the Swedish that was what he did in real life… ;)

The admiral who invented the shipyard doesn't exist ingame, sorry. Call him Friis if you want, that's a random name.
Sweden is a good idea, but I lost my CB since they lost Estonia... however I'd be delighted if a big Danish-Russian showdown would come near the end.

1618-1625:

In the earlier period, provinces change hands. An English-French war had one change, which I don't remember or care about, but Kurland is now Prussian territory. Maybe it'd be a wise step to stop conquering Germany after Brandenburg stops existing, for Prussia's... um, sake. In 1625, another change: Poland manages to recover and take back Posen.

1626-27:

Denmark is really trying to expand! Our king continues the campaign. Brandenburg is our ally! As we know, if a German nation allies with Denmark, that nation will eventually stop existing. Just the same as with Hannover, the German state is absorbed into Greater Germany! Errr, Denmark.

1628:

Finally! Now our weapon manufactoring can go better, as in the near future, factories will be constructed for this (Land Tech 17). These are expensive, but surely they'll be worth it, seeing as being an army of great quality must be very good. But on the naval side, we are struck greatly, as explorer Jens Munk dies in May, while on a voyage, from Pirate ships.

Land tech 17. Yay! Though they already cost 700-800. Lappland is an Iron province, a good candicate for a weapons factory.

1631:

Soon we will control Germany! Brandenburg officially agreed to become our vassal. (Editor's note: For some reason, the part with an assassin threatening to order Austria and Poland to attack Brandenburg was omitted.)

With Brandenburg annexed, you will have Austria as a neighbour and as competitor for control of Germany.

Nice work annexing Brandenburg, now your Danish empire is growing very strong perhaps it is soon time to march against the Austrians or another war with Sweden?
