Denemark sneaked into my alliance!

So the year is 1697.
I, Austria, am allied to Russia, Cologne and Mainz, with Cologne and Mainz as Vassal (amongst others).
I am the leader of the alliance.
We are at war against Ashtrakan, Sibir and the closest Khatanate. The war ends in 1698.
After the war I redo a bit of diplomacy, to find Denemark part of my alliance!

Now I defenetly don't remember inviting them. (I am sober after all :p)
I check the history log to be sure, nothing there. The only thing involving Denemark is the Great Northen Conflict series of events.

After checking autosaves, and replaying year 1697, I can confirm that those event added Denemark to my alliance.

savegames that includes jan1697 to reproduce the bug, and mid1697 just after Denemark sneaked into my alliance.

After checking the events files, I see that Russia has:
command = { type = alliance which = DAN }
command = { type = alliance which = POL }
command = { type = alliance which = SAC }

How can this bring Denemark into MY alliance, when usually the alliance commands don't work when already in an alliance?

Also to be noted, Saxony (an other of my vassals) was actually my ally just before the war against Ashtrakan. They backed out when Russia DoWed, just in time to have the Succession event with Poland.
So Poland is a vassal of Saxony, allied with Saxony, but Saxony is my vassal.
Could the vassal of a vassal thing play into this?

The only other relevant thing I found reported is bug 305, but I doubt that it is relevant.
305 : Type: Interface | Status: NEW | Severity: MINOR
Event alliance shows as broken alliance

It's also possible that Denmark asked to join your alliance and you clicked to let them join meaning to click on whatever was under the window (such as another window).

No, since I have those windows appear as minimised in the upper right corner of my screen.
Anyways, the first time they joined, I checked the log just to be sure, I have that sort of stuff listed.
The second time around I just let the game run, and the alliance appeared immediatly after the Great Northern Conflict series of event.

Isn't it supposed to work this way? The alliance command fails if the target (DAN) is in an alliance, but it should add the target to the alliance of the country getting the event, in this case Russia.

I'm afraid you'll have to blame Patkul for this one I'm afraid. (He's the guy who organized Russia Poland and Denmark to ally against Sweden.)

If Russia were the leader, ok, but I'm just very surprise to be stuck with Denmark. I mean, the point of being a leader is to choose who you ally with.

I'll see what I will do, I might simply edit Russia out of my alliance (I was tired of having them anyway :p) to build the intended Russia/Denemark/Poland/Saxony alliance.

I would curse Patkul, but reading the way his life ended, I'll spare him.

The alliance command doesn't work if the target is in an alliance, but it works if the target is lonely and adds the target (Denmark in your case) to Russias alliance, whether Russia leads it or not.

This can be useful too (me Austria had just f-vassed Poland = Poland no alliance then my ally Russia picked Poland into our alliance.. was surprising though ;))

I had more thoughts on this series of events.

Since if things wourk out like they should (just like it happened in my game) Poland gets the The Polish Succession of 1697 just before the Great Northen Conflict, which allies it to Saxony.
So when the GNC events hit, Poland and Saxony are alredy allied together, thus there is no way that the alliance commands in the russian file will work with those two.
To correct this, would it not be useful to have those lines in the Polish event file? (or Saxony, but I guess there are more chances of having an independant Poland then an independant Saxony.)
This way the chances of having the intended Poland/Saxony/Russia/Denmark alliance would be higher.

Not sure I follow you.
First, the leader of alliance is leader of war thing is beta only, which I don't use (sorry for not specifying this one before).
Second, the fact that Russia is bringing people into it's alliance does not make it the leader of the alliance.
So I fail to see why Sweden needs to do a seperate peace.

Also, are you telling me that you expect historicity in the peace deal? That is way more than I expect from my games. Personally I would be happy to get a great northen conflict in the first place.
