Can Stellaris into Demo?

CK2 had a demo (which Wikipedia tells me came out after the game) as did EU:4 (which launched about 5 days before the game).

Any hints on a Stellaris Demo?

They have already said that in the past demo's were a lot of trouble and did more harm than good and have stated that because of this there will be no demo. The best thing close to this is that youtuber's are getting access.

They have come out and said a few times now that there will be no Demo for Stellaris. If I recall, it is because the demo method of marketing is not an advantageous one. I doubt we will see a last week "Open Beta" either.

The CK2 demo came out before the game. It caused me many a sleepless nights (because there was no save feature). But I needed to hack it to extend the limited timeline. But if you played it today it's going to be nothing like the real game. Probably not a good idea to have such an old demo around, it would be misleading for new players.

We've decided against a demo. They don't really work well with our games and our expansion policy. We'll have free to play weekends on Steam in the future most likely. But if you pre-order I guess it's more of a gamble :/

I thought demos weren't popular anymore due to all those Pre-Release Videos, Let's Plays etc. you get on YouTube nowadays? I have to admit, I never thought about playing a demo for a very long time now. It is almost like they have never existed... Good old 90s.

I remember when I was a kid that a played the demo of The Settlers 2 for I don't know how much time without buying it. The demo was created to freeze after a certain time, but this wasn't a problem, I just started a new game and played it again, same level, same story over and over.

Cool. Yeah, I'm just excited to play it. I remember watching quill's England playthough (probably about 3 times) before EU:4 launched, and the demo made the final weekend bearable while I waited.

I think, in the meantime, I might restart the Blorg steam.

Yeah, and I have even tried demos of shitty games I found on CDs, because modems were slow and the internet hadn't much to offer.

I think in some respects demos are dead. Especially in certain genres.

On the other hand, you can learn a lot from Let's Plays. Paradox has been kind enough to do that for us.

Every Demo was valuable Even the AOL demo CD
And yes the modems... 56k ... 15min to 45min for an mp3 song + the phone unplugged

I enjoyed HOI3 demo much more than HOI3 itself. I fully support the no-demo decision. Demos are simply frustrating spoilers.
