If you Wonder why the e.g. the ottomans have taken naval idea in the demo here is why.

Each nation has a crountry file
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Europa Universalis IV Demo\common\countries
(On my machine at least)

and the ottomans have this list of national ideas:
historical_idea_groups = {
naval_ideas
offensive_ideas
religious_ideas
quality_ideas
trade_ideas
defensive_ideas
innovativeness_ideas
economic_ideas
}

As the demo starts in 1492 ottoman admin tech is at level 6 unlocking one idea groupslot and therefore the first on the list above is selected.
The same way nat ideas worked in eu3.

However when the AI gets at new admin tech unlocking a new ideaslot I'm certain it takes on from the list at random.

1) Could this have to do with the lack of any flags? Having everyone's shield black is kinda annoying,
2) Will the demo update automatically with the chanfes or should we re-download?

1, The flags in the demo should not be black. Please check if you can update the driver for your graphics card.
2, Automatically, unless you've changed the default setting.

When I holding left mouse button in game, screen flashes several times and it dosen't let me choose a couple of armies. Strange problem...

See point 1 above.

I have an issue with performance: on average the demo runs slower than CK2 for me (it's not unplayable, just noticeably slower), but if I open the Main Menu and then return to game, the game runs as smooth as CK2 for a few minutes before slowing down again.

See point 1 above.

Already updated my graphics card. Still, when I hold the left mouse button, game crashes. When I did not hold the button, game works very good with no lag. :(

I hope I can play full game with no errors.

I dedicated myself primarily to colonisation, which displayed some nifty tech updates from EU3. Plays far nicer.

So game ends in 1520. While it was an abrupt slap to my colonial time with Portugal, I'm overall impressed. Paradox has not only taken the good bits from EU3 and made them better and well formed, they've also improved on the not-so-good features of EU3 and introduced new systems that while dramatically change the gameplay in some significant ways, is still simple to understand and easy to adapt to. The soundtrack is fantastic, possibly the best Paradox has ever done, and the map and the user interface look well stylised and fantastic. Overall guys, good work. You're much deserved of any profits you may reap from this game xD

Battles and sieges are much better and clearer to understand, Although I took large part of the Morocco with Portugal and then took my units to my homeland to deal with attacking french, in 3-4 months message came that I have cassus belli again on Morocco, I looked whats going on and BAM all my conquested provinces were part of Morocco again - rebels took them that quickly?! sigh iron mode...
