Yes, reviewers are an entirely different issue but in honesty I don't know how that process works. I would assume there are still basic NDA requirements that go into it beyond the review itself. How much are they really able to discuss the game once the review itself is done? I imagine if they had complete free reign of what they could say then we would know a lot more about the game right about now. 
How so? This is the first review of Victoria 2. I understand all that and I did say I have no clue how the actual process works. I simply made an assumption that if reviewers had a completely free hand to say whatever they want about a game prior to release to whoever they want for as long as they wanted then we would know more details about most games prior to release period.

I have to say, I find it somewhat disappointing that Paradox didn't make a statement about this. I understand not wanting to have to commit to a release date for a demo, but a simple 'yes, a demo is in the works' or a 'no, there will be no demo prior to the game's release' would have been nice.
I'm totally agree with you. I think I will preorder the game after all, but a little disappointed with that.

If we don't get the demo today, then we won't get it at all, paradox normally releases it a week before the full release, today is exactly a week away from 13th.
Well, HoI3 was released the 7th August and demo was 3 days early, IIRC.
Anyway, it doesn't matter if Paradox doesn't tell... anything about Victoria 2 demo.

i wants a demo too. so i know whether or not to preorder it. checking out other people's aars gives you only so much.
A demo would be nice but game already preordered anyway. Any chance of the devs giving us an update as to whether their will be a demo before launch or not?
I wouldn't buy from Paradox in-house developed games without a demo. The 20 minutes I spent on the HOI3 demo saved me a lot of future wasted time and frustration.
I think its still possible to get a Demo on Monday or Tuesday tops...

It would be kind by the developers to tell us that if a demo is going to be released today or not, so that I could stop checking the forum every 10 minutes.
I'm guessing that since we know the nature of paradox, they're seeing if they CAN release a demo before telling us. If they had nothing on the go, they'd have said by now, if there definately was a demo, we'd have heard. So just be patient.

With all due respect to Paradox it seems really disrespectful of them to not given any indication what so ever on whether or not a demo, pre or post release, is even in the works. I could understand if they didn't want to give out a specific date for risk of dissapointing the community should they would fall behind on releasing it, but the current state of affairs is simply ridiculous.
If a member of Paradox could simply confirm that there will be a pre-release demo, that'd be great. It would mean that the hundreds (thousands maybe?) of people popping in on a daily or even hourly basis to check for the appearance of a pre-release demo would know that their efforts aren't in vain, and that Pdox isn't simply ignoring them. Even without an exact date I think it would still be a huge relief.
Then again even if a Paradox staffer stopped in and said that there won't be a pre-release demo but one should be released by the end of the month that'd still be better than the current predicimate. At least the people checking this board for a pre-release demo wouldn't be wasting their time anymore. Plus those of us who are unsure if their PC will run V2 will at least be secure in the knowledge that they'll have a chance to try before they buy by months end.
To sum all this up I think that alot of people, myself included, would feel very grateful if Paradox would simply confirm or deny that a demo for V2 is in the works. Telling us if we can expect it before or after release would be a plus, but ultimately, isn't nessecary.
Guys, there's not really anything disrespectful about not giving us information that we have no claim to. It would be nice if they did, but they don't owe us anything, except for the game on August 13 if you've preordered.

Eh, I have hopes that we'll get a demo they've been slowly having more and more AAR's pop up. I'm sure this is just building up to a Demo.
One of the things driving me towards wanting a demo, is i haven't played victoria due to the old version just flicking and sputtering on this pc, and the fact that 2 other strategy games come out within a month, and I'll have to chose which, so demo's can quite help which i chose
