Demo: that thread about that thing we all want.

There will be a Demo version, Podcat was busy working away on it on Friday. It will allow you to assess how well Victoria 2 will runs on your machine (I know that you like to know these things before you buy).

Would it be possible to continue a game you started in that demo? Or what would the limits of the demo exactly be?

No, I am not 100% certain what will or will not be in demo, but I know there will be no saving or loading.

The current idea is the USA only. Gives you a bit of everything. Colonisation, warfare etc.

USA can do the trick... if it covers the whole timeline and theres no save feature, no AAR will be as honest as a Demo AAR.

You are not going to get the full time period in a demo, why would you buy the game?

I would try to run the HoI3 Demo which has similar requirements.

the Hoi3 demo had a lot worse performance than later releases and Victoria so its not a great test (sometimes I think we should re-release the demo with all the optimizations).

To be fair the demo's purpose isn't to hold all of us who pre-ordered over till friday, it's to demo the game to potential buyers. Paradox doesn't care if those potential buyers buy friday, or saturday, or a month later. The demo could come out a week after release and still fulfill it's purpose. It's not like you can't buy the game AFTER friday.

What drives me nuts is the game is done, it's out there ready to go. Why wait til friday? Whats the point of these set release dates? Just get it out as soon as possible! Probably an anti-competition hold-over from the days of brick and mortar stores.

One you have to remember is a lot of these things are done via negotiation with sites like Steam. For reasons I cannot explain Steam do not just plan thier schedual around our release date, don't ask me why.

Just a quick question regarding Amazon: is Friday the day they will START sending the game or they are supposed to send the game about Wed-Thu, to let the players have it Friday?

I am asking becouse of the weekend.

I don't know the exact answer here, but I believe Amazon recieve it for delievery on Friday. However, I may be wrong.
