Demo: First Impressions?

After about 10 minutes of playing I already get a much different vibe from this then IN. Will play a bit longer and post my full thoughts. Already though I must say I love the new interface for things and this expansion has given a great graphical lift to EU3.

I actually also crashed to desktop after clicking the history button after starting as hansa.

I tried it again and produced a crash the same way - this is reproducable.

BTW - can somebody try to pause the game, push Alt-tab and check if the game unpauses? It did for me every time I tried, but it would be nice to get it confirmed from someone else too

It has stayed paused every time I've alt-tabbed (including right now). Hopefully you can get it straightened out, that would drive me crazy.

Edit: Yep, same Hansa crash as well.

- I'd like to see a notifier about CBs which are about to expire, and what Cbs I currently have (similar to "weak legitimacy" notifier and tooltip).

The is an alert when a CB is expiring. You can see what CBs you have on your diplomacy screen.

What I wonder is why are you so panicked about the demo not working properly ? I really doubt there issues will be present in the full game with expansion. Might be wrong though.. but I'm almost sure, since a lot is cut here and limited.

It worked when the log was closed, then when I brought the log up...it still worked. But that was when it was empty, once I started the game and tried again, with messages in the log, it wouldn't work.


...though I just realized I didn't try minimizing the log to see if it still worked. *shrug* Oh well, something for you betatypes to do. *nods*

King Ceasar.... I know he had a pretty epic realm but still... Ceasar...

i had quite a lot of provinces , a little infamy , 90 legitimity and 80+ prestige all the time , and they formed a personnal union under modena !? 2 province minor , 23 legitimity and -56 prestige !?

I love it! played a German unification game as Austria

Sadly, OE was blobbing like I've never seen them blob before, and when I made the final decision to annex/unify the HRE my country briefly turned into HRE, then it disappeared, I heard the recognisable end of game-tune and the game crashed

Interesting, thanks. It does work if you minimise the log again BTW. It seems to be related to resolution. At the default 1024*768 the log overlaps the minimap a little which seems to be the problem. I normally play at 1600*1200 and it works fine as the log isn't anywhere near the map. If you have a decent pc up the resolution a little and it should be fine.

I hope the 1024x768 doesn't carry on into the actual expansion because my weak PC works best at this resolution.

Another thing I noticed is that the AI actually seems to attack you if you have high war exhaustion, which is a pain in the ass but ofc makes the game so much more fun and challenging. I've only played for about 2 hours yet tho so might be my imagination. I was playing austria (again) and after about 3 years of fighting with france for their cores in the netherlands I got stabbed by Bohemia and Hungary. Similar experience in my game as france, castille attacked when I was at war with Austria over those same cores :rofl:

yeah, but the tag cheat does not work properly in eu3:Httt.. causes all sort of crashes and misbehaviour.

Works as well as before for me, at least to switch to another country and accept or make a diplomatic offer, etc.

Aside from this, I noticed that in addition to the q-p keys to switch mapmodes, I could use "g" to open the HRE panel and "L" for the ledger. Is this new? Are there keys for the Curia and such as well?

Speaking the the Curia controller, the Infamy reduction is gone. Overpowered I guess Edit: oh wait, its based on controlled cardinals instead. cool. Edit #2: whoa, this is much better than it used to be. Maybe too nice. Unify the Catholic world under your banner and get 1.5 infamy reduction per year, compared to the old 0.25... Considering diminishing returns or something.

Ideas; How come Patron of the Arts gives no cultural tradition? A CT idea would be nice.

"Rome Reborn" is an incredibly cool event chain and has the best flag in the game Only one thing: make sure you are at peace with the whole Empire before triggering the Unification, otherwise you dont get the provinces, nor even cores on the provinces (this part is probably a bug?), of those who decide to defy you in the end. Sad thing is that you lose all the HRE bonuses in the end. It would be cool to lose the authority-events bonuses but keep at least what being HRE always granted you.
