Lol!! This is why I love paradox... they manage to deliver a mature and deep experience with their games but at the same time once in a while there're these kinds of events that make you laugh compulsively :rofl:
The demo is great!! Truly an improvement upon the previous installment
.There are only two issues which concern me... the insane quantity of popups upon starting the game (playing as Austria, I am unaware if it's the same with France or Castille) and most importantly the "Join the HRE" Events... as it is now, they get to join the HRE but you, as Emperor, don't get ANY authority gain... Whereas the tooltip clearly states you should.
That event....what is it referencing in real life? I'm so confused. Someone, PLEASE explain it! Google is failing me.... I cannot even find a Friedrich V of Austria, only either Frederick III or Frederick V, Elector Palatine. Help! haha

It's from the book/movie The shining. Guy goes crazy and tries to kill his family. As he chops through the door with an axe he shouts "Heeeeeeeeeeeere's Johny!". The event text used the current monarch name instead of Johny.
In each event, one of the options refers to the movie "The Shining", where a guy in a hotel in the mountains goes crazy.
In the first event, the ruler goes crazy, and there are two ways.
1. He becomes a religious fanatic (0 papal influence)
2. He goes a la Shining (Legal heir dies)
So I chose the second one for great success.
Then I got the second event. Where the "Heeere's [insert ruler name]" options again refers to the shining (I did that one, my ruler died).

hahaha okay, okay. I understand. It totally went over my head at first; I thought this was a specific historical event I was missing. But now I understand it's just a more generic insanity event. Still freaking sweet

There's nothing generic about The Shining.
Also, the first event title references Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... And I am not sure but the description also sounds like something from it...
Sorry if it's been asked, but does anyone know about government titles? Since the Byzantine Empire and Ottoman Empires had their "Empire" titles clipped, does that mean they are dynamic titles now? (i.e., it would be "Kingdom of Byzantium" if you switched to a Feudal Monarchy.)
BTW, why can you not just click on the minimap and go there anymore? I click it to go to Newfoundland from managing a war in Germany, but nothing happens. I have to scroll all the way over there and that is just bloody annoying.
And dang it, the game crashed just as I was preparing to invade Scotland!!!

maybe its because I have been playing MMP2 lately, but it runs SO FAST

Initial observations
Performance is ridiculously good. Belting along, even with all graphics up full. Astounding improvement.
Seems to be a lot more wars, a logical consequence of there being a lot more painless CBs
A lot more to do, feels a bit like playing Vicky
I only played as Austria, the HRE, but tech and stability seemed way too easy, has this been tweaked?
Overall, a massive improvement to an already great game. But playing big nations isn't my thing; I'm going to turn Serbia into a great power when the real version comes out

mine's still downloading, but how viable is it to only gain territory through PU's, can anyone say so far?
