A couple of questions / suggestions.

Are there any random advisers in game, or are they all historical? It would be nice if it was possible to have a small chance of, from time to time, having a good random advisor appear in one of your provinces. Would at least go part way to solving the problem of the AI snatching up all the good advisors, and give small countries a good chance of having some too.

Also, does anyone know what kind of bonus advisors can be modified to provide? Like many others, I too have seen plenty of 1-star advisors giving extra missionaries, spies or diplomats left over. I think the problem here is that, at least in the time frame covered by the demo, money rather than the number of agents is your main limiter. What's the point of having an advisor giving you extra missionaries if, in the few years it takes to accumulate enough money to use a missionary, you'd have accumulated 5 by yourself anyway? A small bonus to the conversion chance, for example, would be much more useful.

I think you start a game with all the historical advisors on your start date available.

After that all advisors are random.

Ah well, guess that's both a good and bad thing. Having the historical advisors appear would have given nice flavour, but it does level the playing field.

There's an advisortypes text file in the directory, which has the less-than-helpful comment "Uses all 'modifiers' possible thats exported as a Modifier."

I think if you look in the 'global static modifiers' section of static_modifiers.txt you get a fair idea of what the possible modifiers are.
