Playing as Denmark, I kept my advisor window open 'cuz I wanted a Stability-type advisor, not the one bloke available at the start of 1492.
For about a year, advisors appeared and then vanished from the available list in a matter of days: far too fast for me to paus the game and try to employ them!
Then 1 year or so afterwards, the market was flooded with advisors: though mainly spy-type, colonist-type and missionary-type advisors, perhaps the ones nobody else wanted in 1492?
