You've been reading Farquharson's AAR about Incompetent King's Regents and Paltry Scottish armies.
The Act of Union in 1707 took place during the reign of Queen Anne.
Scotland's complaint seems to have been English domination of the Union and here you are telling us how Scotland has dominated the Union. Examples of said domination would be most useful in educating your fellow Scots.
Well indeed generally England DID and DOES dominate the Union; and long have we Scots felt that perhaps having devolved regional parliaments might be a better way to go.
I merely meant that the Unification of the Realms of Scotland and England began with the Scottish Monarchy becoming Kings of England; therefore technically it was Scotland who "won"...
To support that I only pointed out there were times under several monarchs where Scotland held extrodinary influence over The Empire (tm) and in effect dominated the Union.
Many of the greatest Rulers in the Empires history were Scottish or Scottish in their hearts; the Greatest Queen the Empire ever knew (Queen Vicky) was famously in love with Scotland and all things Scottish, one of the Empires most brilliant Prime Ministers - William Gladstone - was a Scot, and other Scot Monarchs and Prime Ministers were regarded as competent if not "great"...
Im sure during these periods where their rulers seemed to be more interested in Scottishness than Britishness that the English might have felt that Scotland unfairly held influence over the Union; just as Scotland felt like England unfairly dominated for the rest of the time.
The fact that we were very much the junior partner in the Union and in effect a "small" nation - the fact that we were able to exercise any sort of influence over the Union was remarkable.
EDIT:
Anyway not to hijack the thread.
Good progess for The Empire (tm). Well done.
