Easy question (maybe). Having given up on the tutorial, I'm playing the campaign game as the mamelukes. About 1530 or so, I started getting uprisings in the Delta (my capital) and I now keep a permanent large army there, of 20/25. The uprising is some 35/40, but their discipline is poor and they usually break and run before my losses cause problems.

Why the uprisings? Is it normal to have to keep a large army in the capital province (all other provinces are fine). Am I missing something obvious - like I'm taxing too high, or whatever?

Thanks

Go to the province information screen and hover over the revolt risk; it will tell you what the problem is - religion, stability, nationalism, random event etc. Then you can try and fix it. :)

When in doubt check the revolt screen.

Some things to remember: What is your religious tolerance, could a religious minority be causing the trouble?

Is there an independence movement afoot? Your nations is usually comprised of many former nations. They might want to be free again.

Have you promoted your tax collector yet. These guys are selfish greedy bureaucrat who steal from the people just as much as they steal from you. Promoting them will lessen the revolt risk.

Are you involved in a long war? You people don't like to send their sons off to die for very long.

These are the first things I ask myself when a revolt pops up. You are smart to leave troops in the province. Don't forget to replace their losses or the rebel scum might win a battle.

I bet you it's something simple to fix...

for example: he is playing Shiite Islam country but the vast majority of Egypt provinces are actually loyal to Sunni Islam.

Make sure that your religious tolerance to both Shiite (your state religion) and Sunni (the religion of most of your provinces) are both set to high levels.

because the majority of your provinces are Sunni Islam, you are better off converting to Sunni Islam right away. Sunni Islam may have other benefits over Shiite as well...

You also start out with Cataract as the lone Orthodox Christian province. But in the campaign it starts out as a small city or colony. As soon as you get a settler, colonize it so that you will convert that rogue province into a Muslim province. :)

Al Kansur is impressive.... he can spank many Turk armies...
