Nerve stapled eliminates the happiness penalty so you don't lose stability. Low stability hurts purge production so going from -20% to +5% is a big boost. The green thumb adds flavor, and as a servile faction they're well behaved. Even the nerve staples add some essential metals so you can get a complete diet.
Also somewhere along the line the decline mechanic broke. Instead of declining at -20/month the pops only decline at -5. I dunno what's up with that but it's probably due to them no longer qualifying for the happiness penalty.
