This thread is for discussing play times and rules for the ongoing DEG HoI Game 7. The DEG HoI is the Dedicated European Game of Hearts of Iron. Post any AAR-related stuff in the AAR-thread.

The game specifics:

Version: HoI 1.05b with latest panzer.txt file

Scenario: 1936

Settings: Normal/Normal

Players: 7 (4 vs 3)

Nations and players:
Germany: Stein
Italy: Aldo
Japan: Jan
UK: MadViking
USA: Juv
USSR: Tuuttu
France: Phadishar

Since I can't play anything more for 2 weeks, because I will have my in kick to university. I will leave france to the hands of Daglokkebakken he will do it excellent
Next time I play france, I will not do the standard to build forts along belgium border. Should be better to build them Caen-paris-auxerre-dijon. It will give me a river and some more days to get the org to max before the germans and there tanks comes

Concerning an 8th player:
We are currently 4 vs 3, and an 8th player should IMHO be on the Axis side. This leaves you with a meager number of choices: Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria. Also note that we are currently at August 1939, so these countries have all been run by the AI for almost 4 years, and we all know how good the AI is at making strategic choices for research and unit construction. In other words, you would be taking over a basically stone-age country, with low IC and mainly worthless units. It is most unlikely that this would be a very fun way to play.

There is of course the possibility of adding another player to the Allies (Canada or Australia comes to mind, both of which have recieved a fair number of techs from the UK). However, this would make the game a matter of 5 vs 3, a bit unbalanced I think, especially since we already have a human France. Would be interesting to hear what the other players think of this.

Nice to hear that mr Lokkebakken is taking over France. It will be nice to see him resist the Nazi hordes.

I will gladly welcome a fourth Axis player. Romania, Slovakia and Hungary are the one to choose from I guess.

I do not strongly reject a fifth Allied played although I prefer the first solution.

Kaiser, it's fine with me if you want to be in our current game as the 8th player. Choose which ever of the Axis minors (except Finland it seems...). Note that these countries are at a more or less stone age technology level.

To be fair, Saladin should be first in line for a spot in Deg 7 right? Maybe he is already busy with ADDEGHoIG but since he applied first I think he should be first in line for that free spot as long as he has what it takes. And if he still wants to.

I have been away over the weekend but now I'm back again. If my connection can take an 8th player I'm fine with it. What team he joins is of no importance to me.

I wont write an AAR regarding the first session stretching from 1936 to august 1939. Here is an attempt to summarize important events up to the outbreak of the main conflict:

Yugoslavia became democratic

Greece became dempcratic

France supported Republic Spain that won the civil war

US had a major worker strike

Italy annexed Albania

Germany annexed Lithuania

Japan annexed nationalist China

Austria refused anchluss but joined after Germany demanded territory.

In short it has been a fairly historical game up until now. Correct me if I forgot somehting vital that happened that I forgot to mention.

Nothing much happened in this session running from aug 1939 to dec 40.

Germany gobbled up the baltic states, Denmark, France, Belgium, Holland and Poland. Vichy was created. Japan annexed Holland later and Siam entered in allaince with Japan. Rep Spain entered alliance with USSR. In 1940 USA entered alliance with UK. Italy attacked and annexed Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey. USSR let Finland alone.

The only major battle Im aware of so far is a naval engagement of Sri Lanka were Japan is reported to have sustained som causalites. USA has liberated a few islands in the pacific. Japan has occupied Burman and Singapore. UK has liberated Madagascar and French North Africa. Italy is still neutral. The world is holding its breath in anticipation of Barbarossa.

It was Canada that liberated Madagascar, Libreville and Couraco!!!!
