Hello, Paradox forums!
So, I recently acquired a copy of HOI3 after playing much of EUIV... naturally I started doing a few modifications after getting the hang of things.
I changed a lot of the history folder, and various other things, and naturally there was some crashing... Anyway, the only problem left is one that I've isolated to the defines.lua folder by switching out files from a fresh install everywhere else, and that's the one that causes a crash.
And it's the simplest thing that I thought wouldn't cause me to crash in the first place!
Anyway, here's the deal!
I changed the end date in both the vanilla folder and the TFH folder to the year 9999. The game would crash on the 15 of January.
I then changed it to the year 3,000... just as a small test, since that was the only change currently being tested in the only folder causing problems... lo and behold, on the fifteenth of January, there was a long pause instead of crashing.
I changed it to the year 2,000, and now there's just an annoying pause of moderate length there. By moderate, I mean about a quarter of the length of the entire month going by... Something I could stomach, but still annoying.
(Personally, I just don't think a game is done yet at 1948)
Any idea why this is occurring? I was pretty sure you could change the end date with no problems in this game, as you can in other Paradox games.
