Yeah, all of those were old territories.

However, Damuva is the one being targeted by the pact, and it hasn't given independence to any territories.

Yes, the "light gray" provinces I see do have a tan hue, Saxony for instance. You must have really sensitive color vision.

Also, I don't understand what's the issue either. I wouldn't know what joke he's trying to tell.

For example, I have a friend in real life who is a "biblical young earther". He takes pictures of recent geological events, like a striated rock face that was folded on itself (probably due to a geologically recent seismic event), and uses it as proof that the earth can't possibly be older than the biblical calculations extrapolated from the bible.

Instead of calculating the age of the earth from an upper bound of the evidence data, he takes the lower bound. The original poster is taking a situation that shows the weakest instance of the feature and is claiming the worst situations from the largest Empires don't exist (full sized Charlemagne adding a single county to his Empire and getting hundreds of threat points for the smallest territorial gain) and it doesn't need to be fixed at all.

The OP does have a point that the smaller you are, the less threat penalties matter. I'm curious how it works in the latest patch.

The "A clock is right twice a day" meme can be used as a joke, but I am running into too many people using it the other way. Or on the other hand, as you say, he could actually be joking. (Maybe I'm surrounding myself with too many serious people lately... )

I have some anecdotal evidence for the weakness of pacts but I'd have to dig through my saves to show it. As King of Éire I briefly joined a pact against Sweden in the hopes of breaking it up at some point (I was the only Christian; the rest were pagans of various stripes), but it fell apart when the King of Sweden decided to lay low for several years instead of continuing his conquests.

And now, without the pact, Clan Af Münso is within a hairsbreadth of the Empire of Scandinavia.
