Why does defense platform get its own standalone damage repeatable?

Don't defense platforms use the same weapon as ships, therefore already get bonus from every weapon repeatable?

Probably because of how bad static defenses are. They don't get evasion and fairly overpriced. Battleships, especially those with spinal mounts (X) weapons just steam roll them for significantly less cost. By the time repeatables are in play, static defenses are woefully inadequate.

Since the repeatable doesn't address the problems with station defenses, it's not that good either.

I barely bother with defense platform either, like, just put fleets there.
