Tales from Fort Bob 3:-
With the city given back to its true rulers, the electors of Brandenburg and Prussia peace was assured for many years, but it was not to be, for our allies Sweden attacked the crumbling spanish empire and we joined as good allies do.
Troops were sent to the furtherest corners of america, those hardiest of men to fight for German glory upon a new continent, at first they did well, with the gold mines of Mexico falling, and the east and west coasts taken by Sweden. The Major of Fort Bob rewarded the English by burning the spanish missippi trade posts and allowing them to expand to the west.
But the war turned against them, and the Portuguese made there presence felt, along with more spanish troops. The Portuguese navy now controlled the sea and the expeditionary attack on Iberia was called back as its leader died. However some of the east coast was still under protestant control and this is the story of the defenders of Cheaspeake....
Muskets were discharged everywhere down the line, the entire regiment of Fort Bob defenders were here, to fight down the Potamac, and hold against the Spanish for as long as possible and hope for reinforcements.
Captain Wilhelm ducked beneath the barricades as the advancing spanish returned fire, but weaker and more diffuse than expected.
"We're in luck boys, they didn't protect there muskets from the water when crossing, now we'll get those arrogant bastards[/COLOR]" and again the german line fired metal and fire into the river, where the yellow coated Spaniards had nearly reached the bank.
"Fix bayonets....Charge!!!!" and 1,000 grim faced soldiers charged the struggling spanish, as the order was repeated along the 10,000 man line a wave surged towards the steep bank.
The Spanish already weakened and wavering could not take 5 minutes of hand to hand combat and retreated, however they had a surprise, and fired the few artillery pieces they had, causing utter devestation among the victorious Brandenburgians.
As they struggled back to there positions the cost was counted, the spanish army of 18,000 had been halved, but at the loss of nearly 6,000 defenders, if they came again it would be difficult, near impossible to hold...
