Before C:S was released we raised some questions regarding the space between houses/roads and how to make them non-empty, we were told about some kind of decoration tool but as of yet there is none (we can only insert 1 tree per mouseclick which gets quite tedious).
Are there any news regarding this? Has it been forgotten or is it planned in a future patch?
Im talking about some kind of Cities XL style decoration tool where we can add pavements, forests and what not.

I must admit I would like this... there are some halfway solutions in the workshop that allows you to place assets which are effectively just big areas of pavement, gravel, etc. But again you will get the same issue like you have with the tree is that filling small areas can be quite tedious...

What would be nice is effectively like the district tool but allows you to "paint" the ground with whatever, tarmac, concrete, grass, mud, etc.

Yeah those area fillers seem to be sort of what i'm asking about, a more flexible official brush would be a lot better though, but I guess those could work until then.
Still the question was whether Paradox will make it or not, as I said, before launch TotallyMoo said some things about a decoration tool but then it seems to have been forgotten.

Edit: Searched the forum and found my old post about this in the unofficial wishlist thread before release.

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...-wishlist-thread.795580/page-22#post-18271820

Regarding the question about filling empty areas the response was:
Decoration tool! :)

Yes, it was really promised. Watch from 1:39 to 3:20.

@2:11-2:22 "Most of the asset editor's props will be available as free to place items in the game"
@2:29 "Props"-tab, but she doesn't show it
@2:48-2:54 "So, if you like, you could have all of these separately and place them like in the middle."
@2:55 Pavement-tool?

@TotalyMoo @Azurespecter @co_martsu @Co_Karoliina Why didn't it make it to the game? :)

I like the area filling, but I gave up on using this because it's sick to place and I get mad if it doesn't work like I want. Also it's very time consuming.

Agreed. The decoration items is already there in the asset editor. All we need is to be able to place them in game like the trees. It would be nice if each item has a certain amount of "park benefit" as well. That way, we can do away with palpable parks all together, and make each park a unique creation that fits into unique spaces.

This should be an easy thing to add, and I definitely say +1

Some sort of decoration tool is really needed. Especially that now we have W2W european buildings, we should be able to make cobbled surfaces like in CIM 1 for our squares and pedestrian zones.

I'll check with the team on this one! I know there's been mention of tools that can help fill in empty spots, but I don't if CO actually made plans for a "Filler" tool

I do know that CO never intended to just copy the Cities XL filler tool. It's cool, I know, but just didn't fit the game.

Well, it was advertised as the all mighty decoration tool. But a decoration tool without the main function to decorate like plazas or fill grass gaps between the buildings is actual .. lame, and not all mighty. :D

Great, thank you!
About the CitiesXL tool, however good it was, it still was flawed when you tried filling areas not enclosed by roads and buildings, a paint style tool like the district tool would be much better and fit the game style better. (As been mentioned before)

I would be more than happy if they just re-used this tool from CIM editor

Sorry for the delay on answering. It's something that was re-scoped and changed during development and unfortunately never made it to the released game. My apologies if the communication about this was lacking!

Can't spoil any details about what's planned for the future ;)

Funny thing is those european buildings look actually better than the ones from the european DLC I think...

And the cars look better than ours too :(
