Well I freely admit to being AWOL from the AAR "scene" (that sounds trendier than it actually is) due to a hectic few months. I do intend to return with a vengeance however. Perhaps this weekend if I have time.

I've also noticed a few more replies in my AAR, but I've put that down to being 'over the hump' of 10k views. Not sure about every where else, but there do seem to be quite a few of the "when will you update?" "When I stop playing EU3" posts.
Now it actually seems that EUIII has quieted down. A lot. But other forums have gained it back.

I agree. I have seen alot more involvement in the HOI2 forum in the past weak than I had previously. Which is funny considering I am starting to slip over to EUIII and CK to read AAR's there. I have even read a few Vicki's.

As it happens, I was collecting data on the forums a few days ago and the HoI2 forums gets close to EU2/Vicky/CK on views.
Total views on HoI2 main page: 446,000 (40%)
Total views on other three forums combined: 665,000. (60%)
Vicky has the most views-per-post (44) while Crusader Kings has the fewest (28), indicating that both have as many posters but Vicky has 50% more casual viewers than CK.

Uhm...counting the main page probably isn't a good idea:
EU1 has 116,784 views on the front page. How do they rank? Of course... their front page goes back two years.
Your best indicator may be to see how long it takes an AAR to slip to page 2.

EU2: 4 days +
CK: 1 week +
Vicky: 3 weeks +
HOI1: March 2006 +
EU1: August 2004 +
Diplomacy: Never (At least March 2005)
From this I would agree the HOI crowd has rebounded. The EU 2 'old guard' - those who can't afford the upgrade or won't buy the game - are hanging in there, but activity is down as people continue to check out EU 3. CK is enjoying a moderate resurgence as people compare that game's dynamics to EU3. Vicky has yet to recover, though their problems are deeper... namely a lower fan base.
Interestingly EU1 IS enjoying some gains due to the $1 Gamers Gate deal - you can see n00bs on the EU1 discussion boards again - but it's not translating to AARland.

This weekend I had time and I subscribed to many AARs. When I'm picking new AAR to follow I usually pick rather new one, because old ones already have so many updates that it would take ages to read them all. Besides I like to follow AAR from the start if possible.
In EU3, CK and Hoi2 forums there were many new interesting AARs. In Vicky forum situation was more sadder. There were some new AARs, but they haven't got new updates for a week or two and writers haven't been answering to the posters, who asked will the AAR get new update.
