Declaring war on a Colonial Nation

Been a while since I did a colonial game, so my memory is failing me here. When I declare war on a CN and the mother country joins by trying to enforce peace, the mother nation joins the war as a cobelligerent? I'm assuming so, but I'm not 100% sure here.

Yeah, I know they will call the overlord. What I really need to know is if the overlord will be called as a cobelligerent able to call it's own allies.

If you have a colonial nation nearby (with claims), you may ask that it declares war on the enemy's colonial nation. Overlords won't intervene.

I learnt that too late while playing Portugal for "no pirates in my Caribbean" when Spain had a much weaker colonial nation in the target region.
