Decision to form Roman Empire broken? (de jure drift)

I've formed RE 50-60 years ago as Byzantium. I had kingdom of Sicily 10 years from being assimilated to Byz, kingdom of Aragon too and few others being less than 50. Now, after I changed my realm to RE they are counting down- Sicily is 44 years from being assimilated to Byz (and not at all to RE), other kingdoms too. Is there any way to fix it? Restoring RE don't give any real advantages, it's just change of tag- I wouldn't done it if I knew...

It has to go down to zero before it can go to the RE.

You also get the Augustus trait which gives you an opinion bonus

Yeah, I know- but now I'd have those kingdoms assimilated. If there's some kind of "cheat" to fix it I'd like to use it.

Not in CK2+ it seems EDIT: Well- it does, but it's not bonus I'd expect for extra 200 years of waiting (maybe a little less)...
