I have been rather passive about the chirper until i played the game.
Now under a week after the game launch. I have decided to close down the chirper messages. For me they are simply USELESS
they repeat them self, again with a little useless messages.

"my cat got saved by the smoke detector" I guess its a message to say thanks because i implemented this in the neighborhood. BUT i dont need to know
about the 100000000 cats being saved. At least i get that message every other minute.
And a lot of others repeated messages.
Very few are actually in some funny way i guess, actually "helpfull" or "we need something" messages. But they simply vanish in well, all the nonesence.

SO now i have closed it down in the options menu. Sorry developers, but this feature is rather useless.
How about others? How long did it take you to close it down ?

I was among the first to complain after seeing it in the early dev videos. Oddly enough I still have it chirping as designed. But I am still just pretty much experimenting with the game, I will probably need to close it down if I start to play seriously.

I grabbed the chirpy exterminator mod as soon as I saw it. This is exactly why I love mods....love the game but hate some aspect? Mod community to the rescue!

My reaction was severe: I even made a video about it!

But... Chirpy will return! The modders have found out how to stuff him with new messages; all that is needed is for someone to find out how to lose the ding-ding noise. Then, even if I have to steal code and ask for others help, there will be a mod of much greatness: imagine a community mod full of chirps that are indeed both funny and relevant to your job as mayor! Imagine that mod being updated with chirps suggested by players! This thing will happen.

Well as i write. The thing is, there IS SOME needed messages in there, so its not all useless. Thats why i hate it so much now. Because i am pretty much running my city on
my own, and looking for small icons over the buildings, like "not enough services" or looking at the info views.
They help me so much more than the bird does.

One day. It's a really nice mascot but I don't need the kind of in-game distraction that the chirps provide. Too low signal to noise ratio. Very repetitive for even one session.
I'd like to see it return with community curated content or some new, yet to be conceptualized function.

I regret closing down chirpy, his wraith knows no bounds. Seriously, who would want to live on this street!

I get the point of Chirpy -- the idea is that you're following the social media trending topics of your cims so you can see what they like and don't like.

But sometimes the messages aren't clear or take me a while to figure out. It's not clearly presented information that I can read at a glance.

I'd almost prefer a simple text box with updates scrolling in it like "citizens approve of smoke detector program" or "citizens upset about ground pollution near residential zone" -- with an option to click to see the exact spot people are complaining about.

As soon as the mod came out. But I think if it was just not this huge big blob in the middle of the screen but a tiny cute blue birdie on the upper left or right corner with the option to turn off the sound I might just bring it back.

I feel bad.
Am I the only person that gets completely distracted by other things in the game and doesn't even read the chirps? I don't find it annoying.
What I do find annoying, though, is the popups that pop up in the hotbar, telling you that there's a new building or something.

One thing that is kind of cool with the chirper, is that it recreates the feeling of having your citizens "twitting" about their life in the city, and when you click on the blue name, you are directly viewing who twitted it.

It is a great idea to immerse you in the life of your city, however it needs polishing and it is not as informative as it could be.
It could be a "net newsfeed", like once you set up a broadband network in your city (if we had one as suggested someone to have broadband and net DLC) you could have newsfeed about your citizens in real time.

The idea behind the chirper is nice, but it doesn't level up with the idea of the Devs i guess

Yeah, I closed it too ... But not because I do not like it, it just kept disturbing me from thinking. I use to sit and watch my districts for long time so I can identify problems and then devise solutions... and then comes blue bird and I forget where I was.

What I do find annoying, though, is the popups that pop up in the hotbar, telling you that there's a new building or something.

Do those not turn off if you turn off the tutorial messages in the options menu? I still have those on, but I was hoping that the hotbar messages would stop as well once I disabled the tutorials.

Hopefully chirpy will be patched and moved out of the middle of the screen and made smaller. That's my only real complaint with it. I end up ignoring most of the time anyway but on occasion I'll scroll through the messages.

Never the less, just to further my point with the messages, useless or not. From the time of this post, till now its about 4 hours. I have now 211 messages waiting.
Thats CRAZY. its like 50 an hour. Almost 1 every minute.

Now if we say that about 50 of them is something i could actually use to help my cims, its still 166 none related "spam" messages. That is just to much and not needed
in this game. It comes to a point where i will say the bird is a useless spammer and nothing to help with the game.

Cool story bro.

I like the concept of the Chirper but messages are too repetitive, the position of the Bird isn't good and when I focus on my city building I just see 20*notifications in the bird with 19 useless since I*fixed the problems myself.

So yes, I*grabbed the exterminator mod.
