I love the new decision system but, like many I had to actually read through the event files to figure out how to activate certain decisions. The Anschluss in particular causes confusion since it doesnt even show up unless you use the anti-comintern pact event, something many players will not do when they read that it causes them to lose their cores on Trento and Bolzano. Hear are my 3 suggestions;
1. Plain Language Advice
I suggest that decisions which are a prerequisite for other decisions simply say so in plain language in the decision text. This text could be bolded or otherwise highlighted for clarity.
2. Earlier Decision Buttons
I cannot tell from the event files how the system determines when to make decisions viewable by the player. Since many pop up before their requirements are met it would seem simple to change some to pop up much earlier so the player has more advance notice of how to prepare.
3. Plain language Decision Tooltips
This one might be much harder to implement since I don't know how much control you have over decision text, but it would be much easier for newer players to have a tooltip that is readable in plain language. For example instead of a tooltip that just lists the parameters of the event language (or, and, not) it could say something like the following text (using the anschluss as an example):
Requirements to activate:
+/- Germany must have at least 1 unit in each of the provinces bordering Austria (Landshut, Regensburg, Augsburg). In addition at least one of the following must be true;
+/- Germany owns Vienna
or
+/- Germany is at war with Austria and controls Vienna
or
+/- Germany is allied with Austria and Italy has signed the Anti Comintern Pact
I realize these suggestions would require considerable development work and may not be practical and they are made with respect to the developers. I have been modding HOI since HOI1 and, while I love it, I realize how difficult it can be. Especially the difference between producing a mod for yourself (tough enough) and one that is understandable and enjoyable for the entire community (much harder). Keep up the good work everyone.
