Note that if you don't write an AAR you'll still be granted the deflation for being ontime. You don't have to post that, unless you wish the stategift or the BB reduction.

Who ever said you actually have to play the session to write the AAR. I won the war on diplomacy during the week, gave the instructions for many of the things that happend and could read the rest from stats and from what Bob wrote me.

Danish AAR 1542 - 1567

The kingdom of Denmark's rich possessions in the North of Germany was starting to annoy powers all around Europe. The Electorate of Brandenburg looked with envious eyes on, in particular, the strategic lands of Hanover. The Prince was however too weak to be able to beat the Danes on the battlefield alone, so they looked for support, and found it in Denmark's northern neighbour Sweden. Christian III, king of Denmark, had been busy with diplomatically subdue the French, who pressed for Denmark to secede Hanover to Brandenburg. So it was with surprise that Gustav I Vasa of Sweden declared war upon the Danish Crown. And soon Brandenburg joined, launching an invasion from the South.

Christian III had been busy enlarging the Royal Danish Fleet (Den Konglige Flåde), and had set up the construction of a great wharf in the port of Copenhagen, displaying the glory of Den Konglige Flåde. In the main building three flags were raised; the black eagle of Habsburg flanked by two red-white Danish crosses. Christian the Kind was honouring the gift from Karl V.

The war started with initial failure for the Danes. The Norwegian Guard was overrun by Swedish armies, who besieged Skåne. At the same time Brandenburgian troops besieged Stettin and Lübeck, after having defeated the baffled Danish soldiers. But reinforcements were raised, and with financial aid form throughout the world, the Danish army beat back the German invaders, and managed to besiege Berlin. In the meantime a very important war was fought on the waters outside Copenhagen. Den Konglige Flåde was not organized and was forced to retreat for regrouping outside the Norwegian coast. With reinforcements from the North Sea, the red ships managed to beat the Swedish navy, forcing it back to retreat into Stockholm, were it was blockaded.

In Germany the Brandenburgians were beaten, and with several cities in Danish hands, Joachim II Hektor was wise to accept the very generous white peace offered by king Christian. The Danish army had now secured the southern border, and could regroup to invade Sweden. But was it too late? There were Swedish flags waving all the way from Oslo to Lund, and Östersund was lost too. The Swedish navy was still blockaded in Stockholm, however, so Danish troops could land in Skåne en masse. Despite efforts, the Swedes were unsuccessful in repelling the Danes.

With Skåne regained, attempts were made to invade Älvsborg and Kalmar, but on home soil the Swedes were strong. Instead, Marstrand was retaken, with Oslo soon following. Now the Danes were strong enough to lay siege to large parts of Sweden, eventually gaining Kalmar and Älvsborg as well as Gotland. The Swedes realised their defeat, and ceded to the Danish demands; Gotland and Västergötland.

The Kingdom of Denmark takes a firm grip of the peninsula, excluding Sweden from her western coast.

Peace was finally returned to Denmark, and Christian the Kind now had to beat back the revolts in Northern Germany, as well as repay the heavy debts he had sunk into due to the hard war. The coming years were very peaceful. When Christian the Kind, third Christian of Denmark died in 1559 he left a Denmark richer and more powerful than ever before to be ruled by his son, Frederik II.

Frederik started a new period for the Danish realm, sending large amounts of colonizers to the Northern parts of the new World, establishing the Gulf of Saint Lawrence as an active trading area for merchants from the trade center on Greenland. The entrance to the Hudson bay became the New Øresund.

But conflict rose again, as Brandenburg invaded on what Frederik considered were Danish lands. The native tribe of Huron was overwhelmed and annexed by the German Electorate, despite Frederik sending a harsh warning to Berlin, threatening with war. And Frederik was a man of his word; war was declared, and soon the whole of Brandenburg stood in flames. The poor Prince had no chance against the prepared armies of Denmark, who quickly seized Berlin.

But the king of France finally realized his threat of war, and invaded the Danes, forcing Frederik to end the triumphant war with Brandenburg, without any territorial gains. But the world was outraged, for the French had used unholy magic to be able to enter the Danish territories. Peace was forced, and Frederik returned to Copenhagen, where he is at this moment considering on how to deal with the troublesome German possessions.

Venetian AAR 1542 - 1567

The Venetian empire was doing well, very well even. More pagans in central africa called Kano war fought and brougt under the rule of Venice. Conversions was set in motion and peace was over the land again.

2 provinses in South America was colonized to that we could better explore this new found wast area. Spain started talks of deviding the continent, thou the traders were not really interested. They were more keen on the south italian lands and were bold enough to tell the Spanish about it. Probably a mistake.

A few years later the traders started the war over southern Italy and all went well. All of spanish italy was taken within a year, the spanish army in Lazio beaten. But then our fleet lost numerous engagements with the spanish ending with them sieging and taking Venice itself, while our fleet was blocked. Many years later and lots of dead spanish and venetian, and after Portugal had sent it's navy to aid the spanish, Venice decided it was a better trader than warrior and signed peace with Spain and promised not to attack again before 1600.

Fighting for nearly 10 years had cost a lot of money and income had dropped from 225d a month to 160d a month. Quickly traders were sent around the world, colonization of the new world was restarted, the maltese signed over Rhodes along with the treasure of the holy knights, some 1645 golden ducats. The last pagan tribe in central africa was annexed and a deal with Sweden was signed to sede several provinses along the swedish border in Africa.

All in all a period of turmoil for the venetian empire who was struck by several bad events that resultet i poor stability in the nation. Our landengineers however had a fieldtrip, as they discovered 3 islands in Venice itself, raising the population, manpower and taxvalue greatly.

France 1542-67

In the year of our lord 1542 France had already become one of the major colonial powers of the world. Having ventured far into the east and subsequently conquered the wild african Cape (which was afterwards moulded into a blossoming colony producing soon to be famous Wine) as well as Sri Lanka France sailed ever further eastwards.

Soon these keen expeditions were rewarded. For after the Devaraja of Majapahit (an island kingdom of the Eastern Indies) had defaulted on french loans France´s army was once more mobilised and sent in. With ease Majapahit and its backward people was subjugated, thus rounding of the eastward Empire of France.

At the same time an adventurous Conquistador had set sail for this most fabled and enigmatic of lands, the Americas. Monsieur Clerc (as he was called) explored many parts of the Midwestern Part of this vast continent and came into contact with the local tribes, falsely christened "Indians".

smithtreatyimage.jpg

In any case colonization of New France soon took up pace as well as France with its massive manpower could easily afford to send some of its citizens overseas.
On the continent, meanwhile, stormclouds were gathering. From Russia to Spain war boiled hot the blood of many. Venice attacked Spain and Russia Poland. Also, Brandenburg and Sweden invaded Denmark but subsequently failed, something that was observed with interest at the court of Paris.

Venice ultimately failed as well. Theirs was a terrible war, to and fro it went and many good christians died on both sides. However, french meditation was not requested and thus France remained strictly neutral in this matter.

All this strife had an effect on the populace of France herself. Even with the most vigorous of economic programms (and the french one had been vigorous indeed) anarchy due to heresy finally reached France. Some calvinist revolters forced France to deploy many forces in her Hinterland. After a while, however, this shortlived crisis was dealt with.

As things look now France´s future shines brightly. No country is as industrialized as France at present and through constructing two wharfs this blessed country will soon also construct a navy worth respect.

POLAND XVI - The times of Zygmunt August

f208.jpg

The XVI century. One day some people will call it a Golden Age in Poland history. Not because it was the time of wealth and prosperity, but because it is the time when everything begins. The dark age of wars with Hungary, Teutons, Austria and Czech are finally the past.

And that is how it all started: People of Poland always shared common desire of tolerance and peacefull coexistence. Poles, Ruthenians, Balts, Slovaks, Hungarians, Germans, Jews, Tatars all of them lived together under one king and never really cared about each other faith. There even come to that state religion was changed from catholicis to protestantism to show the world, that Poland is state were everything is possible.

copernicus.jpg

Also in science Poland was the amazing place. One scientist from Krakow said he will move the earth and stop the sun and he made it. Nothing was the same since that. We shaken the world!

putin-tsar.jpg

But someone did not like this idyllic conjuncture. For decades Poland had to face constant danger of Russian invasion on its beloved ally Lithuania. Finally, despite the diplomatic efforts and lots of prayers russian barbaric hordes attacked. Lithuanians were not prepared and gave up very fast.

first_n.jpg

The last hope was in Tarnowski hands. He gathered tens of thousands of men and horses and hit the main russian army. Polish soldiers were brave and very well trained but they did not predict one thing: the black magic. Enemy used dark forces and summoned Hamachi - anciet god of war. Hamachi made Poles weaker and cursed them with time distortion spell. Tarnowski was trying to stop the evil with sword and Holy Cross but he failed and dissapeared in infinitve ctds abbys. The lithuanian lands were lost.
Soon after eating Lithuania Russians move against Poland itself. Battles were bloody and hundreds thousands of people died. Fortunately legats in Istanbul met with warm welcome and after few months mighty turkish army entered polish lands to save us. Russians drown in their own blood!

landing%20at%20Jamestowne.jpg

After the horror of war many Poles left mainland and establish colonies in New World. They had to fight with Indians but were not greedy and left a lot of land free. Unfortunately their kindness was used by english colonists who quickly toke entire coast. There some argues, even some fights but finally someone brought bottles of vodka and English promised to stay on the left bank of James river and Poles on the right one.

Now Poland is recovering from wounds done by Russia, but we look forward into the future. All our neighbours are friendly (beside Russia of course...), New World gives a lot of fresh breath and The Lion is still with us ;)

Brandenburg 1542-1567

Continuation of dark times in norhen Germany. Is there any end to it? Is there any hope?

Betwane 1542 and 1546 there was peace, but then Margrave decided that only way to avoid horrid fate waiting Brandenburg was to move, and not to stand still, so the first colonist was sent to new world and first colonies established. When German adventurers arrived to the coast of new world they saw a lot of beautifully land and unfortunately some small Danish settlements.

In 1546 Great King of Sweden and Prince Joachim II Hector, Elector of Brandenburg decided to take some their rightful land from Denmark. At first the war was going good, very good leaders and superior Brandenburg armies was winning every battle against Denmark even thou Danish armies had superior numbers. Swedish troops started to siege some of Scandinavian provinces not encountering much resistance. Most of Danish armies was in norhen germany and soon superior economy with help from vicious minds from all around the world was starting to cause more and more trouble for Brandenbug generals.

Even thou Armies of the Duchy was able to take control of few Danish provinces in some point battles start to become more and more harder to win. Then when Denmark amassed more than 65k against 25k of tough German soldiers the last great battle was fought in this war.

99268.jpg

The greatest of German generals died and all the soldiers was killed. After that the end of this war was obvious. Soon one after another province was overrun by Danish troops, very little resistance was possible at this time. Swedish troops took control of few provinces in Scandinavia.

After this events Denmark proposed white peace to Brandenburg, Prince had no choice he accepted right after sending letter with words of great sorrow to King of Sweden. War in Scandinavia waged long time but Denmark with foreign help was too strong and Sweden was also beaten.

When war in Scandinavia was about to end Prince sent more colonist to New World and Won a war against pagans turning them to only true faith of Protestant Church. After that there was long years of rebuilding and colonizing.

At the end of this part of history of Brandenburg was conflict with Denmark. King of Denmark decided that he hates Brandenburg and waged a war against it taking almost half of colonial territory of Brandenburg. Even when France decided to intervene to protect Brandenburg there was not much which French could do against Danish fleet.

Horrid times indeed.

Holland, quite possibly the best place to live in all the known world. When the van Der Bob dynasty began their rise to uncontested control of the stock market, and thus of Amsterdam itself, the lowlands were scattered amongst many different lords and rulers.
The vast majority of these petty mayors and gentry swore allegiance to Amsterdam as soon as they announced they had bought the rights to the Crown of the Netherland from Phillip II of Spain for a princely sum. By 1568 only Flanders and Brabant remained outside the control of the new country and its elected Stadholder, William of Orange.

However, whilst Flanders was bought from the most friendly and likeable Elizabeth of England for a most reasonable sum, Brabant was an altogether more difficult issue. Whilst Phillip expressed interest in selling it along with the crown his close ally in Lisbon decided that it made far more sense to attack the fledgling republic, sailing over 100 galleys up through the Channel, sinking the 13 warships of the newly comissioned Dutch explorer and landing 20,000 murderous colonial troops in Friesland to slaughter the dairy farmers and their cows.

Despite Spanish aid to their ally, the Portuguese genocide was averted by the combined condemnation of europe, a heroically noble gesture that Holland as a nation will not soon forget. With this momentary madness averted the province of Brabant was indeed sold at an acceptable price for both parties and Holland could get back to what it was good at, buying stuff at low prices and selling at high ones.

Over the next 20 years the plucky nation of windmill growers and clog breeders gained an increasing share of the fast developing transoceanic trade. From its newly constructed bases in Guyana, India, Vancouver and Indonesia the spirit of commerce was let loose on primitive barbarians and fellow europeans alike, for all can benefit from the perfection that is the free market.
