So I was having this great game as the Zunbil Satrapy (now shahdom) and had sworn fealty to the Abbablob to give me some breathing room to invade India. Then a decadence revolt happened and I though 'GREAT'. IN MY TERRITORY. So when the decadence revolt beats the Abbasids, what happens? Well I lose 75% of my kingdom. 3 GENERATIONS OF WORK UNDONE. Me set back to this tiny little rump state because they took all the valuable lands of my kingdom. Why? Seriously why does it work like this? Shouldn't they take the old caliph's demesne as their new demesne instead of taking MY land?

I feel you bro but you just got f**ked by bad luck.
Decadence revolts are really strange. They are so static and unimmersive. But that's the way it is and I'm OK with it.

Fair enough. It's just... So much work. UNDONE... *sniff*

I just can't honestly get why a new Caliph would choose to base his caliphate out of Afghanistan at the very edge of the empire. Who does that?

I nearly had a similar thing happen recently but I found a decent solution: take the offensive and defend your lands like a good vassal. Works for Vikings, works for decadence revolts against the Abbablob.

As Sultan of Mesopotamia I had about half-again as many troops as any one stack of the decadence revolt against the Caliph, so I dodged around them until I could form up my army, then began busting up any stack that trespassed on my lands and retaking any of my own holdings. Otherwise I left the Caliph to his own devices but I did enough damage that the revolt was never really effective.

The attitude to have is, "I don't care what your beef is with my boss, just keep it off my front porch."

Great idea when I don't hold 3000 troops against the decadence revolt's 25,000 which spawned in the middle of my kingdom...

Your mistake for attempting to build an empire starting in Afghanistan.... the Graveyard of Empires ;)

Edit: Don't mean to sound snotty. What happened sounds very unfair, random and frustrating. Have no experience with playing muslims myself.

Ouch. Okay, that's just rotten luck.

Ok, let's think about ways to get your land back. Any Buddhists nearby you can ally with to help push the claims you got by losing the land?

Ironically, it would have been easier to stay Zunist. It's not even too tough anymore.

I was Zunist- Hiding under the Abbasids because every single one of my neighbours were hungrily eyeing me

Nope. All Hindus and Muslims and they all hate me.

Signing up with the Muslims is always a bit risky.

You're better off with the Hindus, to be frank.
