I think this ascension perks need more love as do ships so let's talk about the Collosus Prjoject.

The biggest advantage of the perk isn't even the weapon but the ability to wage total war.
Do actually deserve the the term collosal the ship needs to be bigger like 1.5x the size of a titan
and both titan and collosal class ships deserve more armarments - secondary batteries, hangars
& flak for titans.

As for the collosus class ships the should also get the full treatment + some extra weapons:
the spinal weapon would be the planet killer weapon which should also be usable against cruiser and above sized ships or to support the fleet depending on the type.

the world cracker would work as the titan class's perdition beam
the global pacifier boosts the shield strength of the fleet
the neutron sweeper kills the crew leaving the ship to be salvaged
the divine enforcer boosts the morale of the fleet, increases fire rate for your ships decreases it for the enemy
the nanobot diffuser repairs the fleet / damages enemy ships without shields

The extra weapons could be thing like twin X-class weapons mounted in turrets.

Other aspects for the perk could be:
larger more capable science ships (science ships themselve deserve a whole thread)
construction ships with extra abilities - salvaging damaged megastructures, faster build speed for megastructures, mobile shipyards/refineries.
More capable Starbase like the enigmatic fortress

Death Star II was a mobile station the size of a moon while a Colossus is around 40 times larger than a battleship (Apocalypse trailer) and is basically a giant armored power core with engines and weapon exhaust, like the Darksaber if we're to use Star Wars for comparison.

Anyway I suggest you use the New Ship Classes mod, you'll find the ships you're looking for there. Sadly no Colossus with weapons or flagship with planet killers. But you do get Starbases that can be upgraded beyond what you can in normal games and twin X-class weapons for larger ships (technically they're just sections that can mount multiple X-class weapons).

construction ships with extra abilities - salvaging damaged megastructures, faster build speed for megastructures, mobile shipyards/refineries.
I like the idea to have the option of salvaging a damaged megastructure, a very large and instant resource and tech bonus at the cost of being unable to repair the megastructure. Also, megastructures are already built with a lot of construction ships if you look at the Utopia loading screen.

Ship classes are all over the place, they keep adding fluf to it by making one thing 10x more powerful than the last one.
It's no wonder battles are mostly one-sided and ship types are unbalanced.

I get it they need to sell expansions to survive, but god dammit... it's really a shame, so much potential lost to rushed decisions.
