Is there such a tool, as the one made for HoI2 doesn't work. At least not for me, since it 'can't find the installation of HoI2'.

I haven't seen one and I don't know if the HOI2 one will work. I usually just do an edit of the save game using the replace function in Wordpad. You change the "deathdate = 1942" to "deathdate = whatever year you want".
For example.
deathdate = 1942 to deathdate = 1999.
It's a bit more time consuming but it works fine.
