It's commented out, but if you removed the comments would it actually be possible to have rulers stung to death by a platypus? Is there a sound effect for it?

That would be an awesome entry in the family ledger. "Our beloved patriarch was poisoned by a cuddly platypus, unleased by the dastardly King John of the house of Gilchrist. He died a maimed cripple."

I was about to object that the platypus wasn't known to Europeans at this time(they come from Australia).

It's not even an easter egg; it's a placeholder/template to show how to formal execution events. It's probably "platypus" because that's the Paradox logo.

There haven't been any recorded human fatalities from platypus. That isn't to say that there isn't a chance of it. Male platypus have venomous spurs. Hey, its an Australian animal - what do you expect?

It could be used as a very effective method of torture though. Those who have been stung by it probably wish they had died. Platypus venom is hyperalgesiac - which means that excruciating pain can last for months, though more normally for a few days to a few weeks. And to top it off it does not respond to morphine. You can't dull the pain.

A former Australian Vietnam Vet got stung by one while trying to rescue it and describes the pain as worse than being struck by shrapnel. Fifteen years later he reported he still suffered discomfort and fitness while carrying out some physical activities. Like using a hammer.

Y'see, that's the problem with HOI players. All too serious. I'd take Empire of the Kiwi any day... I'm sure we could dream up a flag for it...

Eh it's just as bad over here - Aztecs/Finnish/Romanians/Britannia/etc. Personally I find nothing offensive about Empire of the Platypus and any Australian who does should have their citizenship revoked. The name isn't historical? Either is the idea of fascist Australia.
